This is a bizarre year, and I think that's putting it mildly. That strangeness has not avoided the NFL, and it's probably not going to avoid the final NFL standings. But, in an attempt to get people at least tentatively on the record, it's time for league rankings. With only a couple of teams looking as if they are the clear top contenders for the #1 pick, these should be pretty interesting.

So fire away, rank the NFL teams, and please feel free to explain any slotting you think deserves it.

My very unscientific ranking. I will be curious to see if teams that usually enjoy more of a home field advantage due to crowd noise (KC, Seattle, dome teams) lose some of that edge with no fans in the seats. Teams that made major changes (new HC, new OC, or new QB) may be at a disadvantage as well, with less time to get those new systems installed or QBs up to speed.

Looks right to me. I could see the Falcons, Cards, and Panthers, maybe even Dolphins, doing unexpectedly better than ranked but wouldn't put money on it. Lions could be that high, but they've proven to go much much lower.

I looked at the Lions a couple days ago and found that they went 0-8 in games without Stafford last year. On top of that there were one or two games with Stafford that they could have easily won. I probably have them ranked a bit higher than most because in those circumstances last year's won-loss record is less relevant than it is for most teams.

I'll do top 5 and bottom 5. Easier.

1. Chiefs - Champs get the benefit of the doubt
2. Ravens
3. 49ers
4. Saints
5. Pitt

32. Jags
31. Redskins

29. Bears
28. Jest
