Game over for rest of the league: Brissett is back

Maybe the throwing motion is similar to Brady (I didn't notice that), but Brisette really struggled with screen passes and little dump-offs in training camp. His accuracy was all over the place in drills. Those types of throws are critical to the Pats offense and are Brady's bread and butter.

That being said, I still liked what we saw from him. He looked poised and strong in the pocket. He didn't seem to make any mental mistakes. He played hurt and won a lot of respect from his teammates. For a rookie he showed more than enough in his opportunities that he's a capable prospect.
He looked "poised and strong" in the pocket because he knew where he was going with the ball each time pre-snap.

Put me in the camp that thinks Brisset should have gone on IR. He may be the heir to Brady, but that roster spot could be useful.

Put me in the camp that says we should have 2 OL who know how to long snap.

The Patriots are pretty healthy right now and getting Brissett reps in practice is a better use of a roster spot than some marginal NFLer like Woodrow Hamilton who won't be active on gameday in any case.

BB must think that the insurance Brissett brings to the table is worth having.
JAG too fragile?

Maybe the success of Dak Prescott played into the decision and Brissett was rated a slightly better prospect a poor mans Jameis Winston.

I think there are a whole bunch of factors involved like getting Tom some rest as he works through the leg or whatever other issues hes working through and keep him on a pitch count and getting Jacoby some practice time so he can continue to develop.

With that said, we have a very small sample size to work with but Jimmy has yet to prove he is a durable QB. That doesn't mean he isn't but it does mean he has yet to prove it.

If TB12 went down and then Jimmy went down, BB would slit his throat if he had to go to Jules b/c he didn't keep Brissett on the roster.

With that said I don't think they'll keep him active on gameday.

Also if Brady wants to play for Three more years Brissett will still be under his Rookie contract.

I know the thread title is tongue-in-cheek, but there might be something to that idea. If BB really feels Brisket is the future, and if he's right, then JG may be getting shipped off for at least a first round pick, while the Pats are grooming TFB's successor...so, a franchise QB + first round pick? Yeah, the league might be proper ****ed.

Also Brady has looked as good as ever this year. I do think he can probably play another 3+ years (maybe till 44 or 45 even) at a good to great level.

With no Gronk btw

I'm now convinced JG is the real deal after re-watching these clips. Some observations:

1. Quick (like elite level quick) progression through his reads. At least half his plays, he went to the 2nd or even 3rd read. It's so smooth, almost unnoticeable. Faster even then Brady. Although Brady usually puts the offense in the best play via an audible, so he usually only needs one read.

2. Great pocket awareness and agility. Not scared. Just keeps going thru his reads. Eyes downfield. When no reads left or pocket breaks down, can scramble for yardage as a last resort. Unlike TB teams will have to respect that eventually. There will be one less DB/LB in the ideal spot in coverage, and forced to spy. Or not, and they'll give up scrambles for 1st downs. Either way, will only create more space for the O to operate.

3. Deceptive play action. Multiple arm release slots (on screens for examples), that just make the play work, in control, and not to be flashy. Examples, on 2 screens, the DE had sniffed out the play, was in the backfield, best play was just block the passing the line to allow his teamates to catch up by delaying the throw with a double clutch, or forcing a soft floater over his head. Without skipping a beat, JG side arms it around him, keeping the ball just out of a blocked passing lanes when he is forced to. Quick release and zip on throws.

He's gonna really frustrate D lines trying to chase him down all game. I'm jacked after watching that. Thanks for post

Letting him go will ruin this franchise in the long run
