Fronczak has us taking Knowshon

Knowshon is going to be an absolute stud RB, he was not used that much out of the backfield at Georgia, but when they did screen him, he was amazing. If he is still on the board at #23, he might very have the higest grade in the Pats system.

I still think that Maroney will be OK, but he has to show it this year. You can only claim injuries for so long. Imagine the scenario, #23 comes around and Knowshon is still available, "hello Josh, what will you give me for Maroney?"

All this is going to be moot anyways, because the Iggles are goiong to take Knowshon at #21.

Unless they take Pettigrew, or an OL, or a wide receiver. Or trade #21 for Boldin or Edwards. Nothing is cut and dry. There are a lot of possibilities before and on draft day.

I'm warming up to the idea of taking Moreno at #23 more and more. It's not a need pick obviously, but if my boy English is already taken then I see no reason to reach for a Bariwn/Matthews.

I do. You take Barwin or Matthews at #23 so you can grab Gilbert or Hood at #34. It makes a lot of sense with the Dolphins drafting hot on the heels of the Pats.

Perhaps I'm in the minority but when was the DL an area of weakness?

Seymour and Wilfork are free agents in 2010. Can we afford to keep BOTH? It's not an area of weakness but insurance would certainly be useful. And the Pats can afford to draft insurance with their plethora of picks.

If we somehow got Moreno at 23 and English at 34, i'd be ecstatic. Wow.

If Wilfork goes down in week #1 and is lost for the year, who steps in and plays the nose? Wright? Smith? Neither has shown me they can lclog and bang consistently over a long period of time.

Do we move Warren over to NT? It allows Green and Wright work in rotation at DE.

Can Brace play the nose? We could scoop him up in round #2!

What was the reaction to people when BB selected Maroney. I can't recall very clearly, but didn't the Pats have more "pressing needs" at that time as well?

Yeah,Moreno will be our #1 pick is the same chance as BB selecting a TE in 2004 or an OG as our pick in 05,you know THOSE picks were fan favorites as well...Oh wait a minute....

It was a surprise to most I think we were all saying LB LB LB then too

I still wish we could have taken Chad Greenway that year who I believe went to the Vikings instead we got Laurence dancing Maphony.

I believe I had Thomas Howard.

Maroney's career numbers are just fine, he has just been hit by too many injuries. I'm not saying he doesn't have his weaknesses but his career numbers are rock solid.

Greenway was drafted at 17. We drafted 23 and in the 30's.

The board wanted Manny Lawson who was drafted at 24. Belichick wasn't drafting LB's. He had RB's and WR's much higher on his board than the available LB's.

And so, we chose Maroney and Jackson. One alternative was Santonio Holmes and LeDane White.

I'm kinda torn because as far as I'm concerned the running game is just fine as it stands now and drafting a RB early is poor draft strategy in general IMO. But I love Moreno and let's face it the day we drafted Maroney everyone got excited as opposed to the day when we drafted Mankins.

I wouldn't be upset if we took Moreno at 23, but it would depend on who's on the board at that point also....

But regardless, he looks to be a solid 1st round player.....

I suggest that we shoudl TRY not to get excited until we see the end of the first round. By then, the first pick will be in a bit of perspective. It seems premature to get all excited about not getting our binkies (Barwin, Beatty, Gilbert, Laurinitis, Matthews) or others. After all, we might get one of our first round binkies at 34 or 47 or even 58, OR Belichick might have an even better plan for the team.

Well-phrased, logical and point well taken...... mgteich!

BTW, I am getting increasingly antsy as we get closer to round 1.....
I feel like this will be a key draft for us to remain a dominant team!
It's rare to have 4 picks in the top 60 so well placed for talent and value....
I just want to get to draft day bad!

I did want Greenway but you are correct,he was drafted earlier than our selection so I did look to Lawson,But it appears to me in the early going that Greenway will be better than Lawson when all is said and done
