The reporter brought up the Patriots. These reporters are kings of misleading headlines.

Which is why I said to take the report for a grain of salt.

I think we have enough DTs to work through right now.

Well, that may be the case and is a good point. But competition for guys such as Kelly who's coming off a season ending injury couldn't hurt IF it's for the right price. Sounds like this guy still wants to play.

Its all about the price. No I would not pay much for his services at this point in his career.

The guy used to be a beast, and based on last season he should still have something left in the tank. If he's cheap, I wouldn't mind seeing the Pats give him a shot.

Agree completely. It comes down to if he's playing to squeeze the most money he can out of his remaining few years or if he is looking to win. That could be the difference between him signing with the Patriots or with the (insert bad team that overpays for his services).

I know it is the season of optimism, but Vince and Kelly are closer to the end than the beginning, and coming off season ending injuries, Armstead has never played a down in the NFL coming off heart surgery and infection, Easly has the ACL, and the other guys stuffed Moreno for 200 yards in Foxboro, so I'm good with it.

In fairness, BB suckered Manning into those useless 200 yards. Depending on one guys health is an iffy bet. Betting on 1 or 2 out of any 3, is much more probable.

At this point they really aren't pursuing players they are looking for those willing to take what they have left to offer. Williams and Keller are this offseason's Abraham and Freeney, we may be enamored with them but if they can find a better offer elsewhere they are taking it, and they usually can. I would love to see both in New England but i won't be holding my breath.

Armstead's heart surgery was over 2 years ago. The infection was last year.
Vince may be closer to the end of his career than the beginning, but he's still among the best in the league until he shows otherwise.

All that being said, I wouldn't mind Kevin Williams being in here. He's very familiar with the 4-3 Under and 4-3 Over defensive alignments so he shouldn't have too much trouble fitting in..

Fixed it for ya.

I feel so bad for you, having to root for the worst team in football and all, that must suck.

Fortunately for me i am a Patriots fan and they have been the best franchise in professional sports the past 20 years, and the most dominant team in the NFL this century. However if they didn't have the best coach/GM in football during that time it would have been a much different story, then they would have sucked as bad as your team does.

A year ago the situation at DT was much more dire in terms of depth and youth at the position, however they did a great job adding young talent over the past year and imo with Chris Jones, Siliga, Armstead, and Easely behind Wilfork and Kelly they have the young players to build upon going forward. i would bring Williams in for competition but the price will dictate the decision by the Patriots.

Ex Vikings DT Kevin Williams is visiting the Patriots today. He's 33 and would be entering 12th year. Mulling retirement. #PatriotsTalk

I mean...I think this is one of those kinds of signings that can't hurt.

The money is going to be low, and we'd have an established run stuffing veteran who would be part of our improved depth/competition.

Exactly what I was saying.

It does concern me that he's mulling retirement though, which could mean he wants a bit more $$$ than I initially thought.

Loved him in his prime...if he's cheap he can only help. Lets do it

The only thing we can do as fans is sit back and let Belichick make those kinds of decisions. I'm sure he'll look at it from all angles and take everything into consideration. Like you said, he may want more money than BB is willing to pay, and we've seen that many times with these low-cost signings.
