For the love of God, get rid of Lugo!!!

im going to have fun bumping this thread for a long time.

put outs, errors, assists, double plays, fielding %age, range facotor(per nine innings, per game), total chances- those are all the measured stats that are indesputable, justifiable, measured on the field and not by some computer.

Those highlighted stats don't mean **** when determining a players defense with numbers. This is not debatable.

Range factor is important though. Lugo's RF/9 has dropped every year since coming to Boston and it is at an all time low of 2.8! He was a career 4.2 RF/9.

Errors can sometimes be misleading. There are times when a player with exceptional range makes it to a ball that they have no business of even getting close to and make an error on a play that a player with sub par range would have simply just not fielded. Green made a lot of throwing errors early in the season and even cost them a game with a throw but his throwing has been very good since.

I want Green in there and not Lugo because of the defense. I don't think Green will hit this well all year but at least his defense will be a hell of a lot more reliable than Lugo. Hell, this might even be Greens "career year". Might as well get use of it.

Don't continue on, I'm not gonna drive the issue. You are firm in your belief and I'm firm in my defense. What happens between now and July 31st will prove whether I'm right or wrong about them getting rid of Lugo.

There's a few posters whose thought process or lack of challenge my tolerance levels, however, Julio Lugo also does the same when he plays. I'll support him because he plays for the Red Sox, but that's about as far as it goes.

The problem I see with them not moving him is the after effects of the last bad shortstop they got rid of- Edgar Renteria.

It cost them an arm and a leg and a wad of cash to get rid of him, then he goes out and puts up a stellar year...they don't want to see that happen with Lugo especially when Lugo has even less value than Renteria had.

Not gonna...just saying that the experience with one soured them on trading away a bad contract on the other...if not for what happened in 2005 we might not be having this discussion about Lugo as he would have been gone last winter.
