Football motivation: Harbaugh vs. Belichick (merged)

Juvenile is the NYJFL these days. Whinging for flags, crying about 'running up the score', baseless accusations, participation banners. I expect these stickers to catch on. Players will be so proud of their haul of stickers that they will want to display them more publicly. They will be marketed by the league and appear on helmets soon [licensed versions only, of course]. Certain players might even finagle a game stoppage to have the application of a record Nth sticker applied to his helmet in view of adoring fans.

We had some friends over here to watch the Pats-Giants game (we live in MD). One of our friends is a diehard Skins fan (yes, has been miserable for 2 decades). Even a week after the fact, he was still fuming about when the Pats did the 1st quarter onside kick against the Skins, he went beserk claiming what they did was despicable and not what should be done by a "respectable" team.

It was as if he was upset at the hurt feelings of it all.

Everyone at the party that day learned what Patriot Derangement Syndrome meant.

Definitely Patriot Derangement Syndrome. No doubt that your Redskin friend wouldn't have cared about the onside kick if it was any other team but the Patriots.

It's bizarre how much other fans hate our team.

Between this and the letterman jackets from Houston, you can see the mindset drift towards coaching the coddled athlete.

I can understand the mindset, with every kid coming up seemingly less mature with every passing year. The problem is setting lower standards and treating them like high school/college students. Men want to be treated like men, meaning challenged to be the very best at their job and striving to be in a place to best use their skillset.

BB gets this, always has. Fortunately, that is a timeless truth. It doesn't take an understanding of the Y generation, just basic understanding of mankind.
