Floyd has already worked out his plea deal. Whatever restrictions will be in place are already in place. I guarantee Belichick knows exactly when Floyd can and can not be with the team. The fact that the report states the team is "unlikely" to get into a bidding war indicates to me that Floyd will be available to contribute to a football team in 2017.
None of this is news to me. Belichick is probably interested in keeping Floyd around at a one-year, incentive laden deal around the veteran minimum. Frankly, I'd be surprised if anyone offers him that. 30 teams passed him on waivers, he did little with the Patriots outside of one big block, and now he's doing time. He's not worth much right now.
