With the news we all waited for the first round of Pats FA business is done..
.. according to expectations actually. Still feels good to actually see it.

Since RFA M Williams is not expected to be tendered (not needed) and ERFA King probably getting a contract better than the minimum this round of business seems concluded:

Butler - 1st round tender - 3.9M
Fleming - original round tender (4th) - 1.8M
Coleman - ERFA tender - 0.6M
Lengel - ERFA tender - 0.5M

Pats now have 54 players signed.. 36 to go

How much cap space they have left now with all these tenders? They still have to resign branch?

I see. They can still increase that by some restructuring of amendola's contract

Thank Christ they tendered Coleman. Would hate to lose him to another team's practice squad or shadow roster.

"I have no experience with no other team."

Let's keep it that way.

There is less than zero chance he's back. Once they tagged him, he was gone. Some team will swoop in and sign him to a massive offer on a contact that the Pats could match, but due to its structure they won't.

Then, we can have the street signed secondary guys. I am already having flashbacks to that game against the Saints 5 years ago or so when they couldn't cover anyone and got blown out.

Butler leaves and no one other than Boyue gets signed it's back to that.

Dude they didn't tag him.
He is a restricted free agent. They tendered him for the highest amount allowed.
If a team signs him the patriots can match the offer and keep him. But the team signing him would have to give us their first round pick if we don't.

The fact that your memory is focused on a bad game 5 years ago that you think will be the future because we will be the first team ever to lose 1st round tendered RFA and will fall apart because of it, instead of the fact we won the SB 30 days ago is mind boggling.

Tendered/tagged pretty much the same difference depending on exclusive vs non exclusive tag in my view at least.

Yeah. I move on almost immediately. I take a view of never having seen the Pats win a Super Bowl. I would like the team to take the same view and act like they've never won it before. To me, now that FA is starting, the SB51 win never happened. It will come back week one when the banner is raised then get put away once again.

They have actually done that for the last 16 years. They wouldn't have been a Top 5 franchise every year during the BB/TB era if they didn't.

rw could say the same for Lengel too.

I think he has a decent shot at making the club actually. However if Gronk stays healthy and they sign a mid tier FA TE and spend a fairly high pick on one he might be cut.
