Oh don't remind me of slo-joe.. don't forget Harry asking for a trade.. Arguing with the WR coaches.. .. Reid definitely will break it..BB took the UNC job let's see how many WRs get developed under him.
See below he is a GOAT HC with a Major flaw. IF Randy Moss pt.II ends in in Chapel Hill I hope we don't Draft him.

This speaks to my reply to posters who are wr happy, bb and the pats never had great wide outs when the pats won all those super bowls. The team had good to very good o-lines, and a great qb.
They had guys like Troy Brown, David Patten and David Givens who were tough, ran good routes, caught the ball, and did their jobs.

You can win with guys like that.

Who was our WR coach back then?

Let’s get him back.

Yes those WR's weren't Great but they were Very Good for the GOAT QB. There's no comparison!!

Absolutely correct. We always had system, possession WRs. I believe it had more to do with the abilities of TB12 than anything else. Plus the Patriots offense was run predicated of play action during the first dynasty.

Glenn was hurt and was missing team meetings ect.. I don't believe he took to Bill's way.. so he was traded to Dallas I think.. what could have been.. Glenn would have been the deep threat the Brady offense lacked until moss came along. Malcolm Mitchell last seen Making crucial players in the falcons superbowl. He had a knee issue that never really healed and he wasn't able to continue playing with it.

Glenn was in full Diva meltdown at the end of his time here. A domestic violence issue that had the team excuse him from minicamp and voided his bonuses. Skipped a league mandated drug test and was handed a mandatory 4 game suspension. Failed to report forcing the team to send a '5 day demand' letter to his agent, finally reported then promptly skipped practices. Between inactives a well as league and team suspensions he ended up playing all of 4 games in 2001 although he did catch Tom Brady's first NFL TD. The sad truth of Glenn's money disputes with New England was his own miscreant behavior led to it. He cost himself $10M in voided bonus money being a dipshit. Can't help but think 'The Terry Glenn' experience was a contributing factor in BB's attitude towards the value of big name recievers

After the season the Pats traded him to Green Bay, not Dallas. IIRC the pick yielded serviceable DE Jarvis Green, who had a solid Pats career as a defensive line rotational fave of BB for several years. It was GB that sent him to Dallas reuniting him with Parcells, the HC who once referred to him as 'she'

I think Glenn was Kraft’s initial act of meddling and inspired Parcells to leave.

If you remember, David Givens was a 7th round pick who did not impress in his rookie year.

Then he met the Jugs machine.
I remember a long time between drinks: that's why I am giving Javon Baker a Red Shirt year. Regarding Slow Polk not holding my breath.

Givens, branch, Edelman, Mitchell, pop Douglas, am I missing more???
Add K Boutte I think he has a lot of Upside: He's been our Best WR this year and leading all WR's in snaps. I expect him to be better with the right WR acquisitions next year. Nobody expected him to make the last cut down and he did he D.I.D.

Kermit is doing this for the Chiefs now, too.

I think the blueprint now is get a good WR to help out your young QB and once the QB improves, then you can start substituting a great WR for lesser ones. I'm not sure that always works out, though.

That's my thinking too, that they'll double down on top receivers both in free agency and the draft. Then Pop for your slot receiver. But then you prefer your last WR to be on a rookie deal, so Polk or Boutte, probably?
Bourne and Boutte are fine as your 4th and 5th guys already. Bourne's deal is very cheap if he is not hitting his incentives. So you'd be telling Polk and Baker they need to either beat out one of those guys for a spot, or at minimum justify carrying 6 WRs. If they can't then that's that.

The QB can definitely make your WRs look good, but regardless of how much talent a WR has, you have to run the right route and be where you are supposed to be so the other team doesn’t catch the pass instead.

I’m looking at you, Pop!

Now we have Two Quality Starting Material NFL Guards in Cole Strange and Michael Onwenu. IF WR's like Polk and Baker can't get open now I don't know what to say. Four Games to a reception hopefully.

That's why I have soured on Pop I expected better: and the reason why I would pursue WR Chris Godwin in FA.

Parcells was probably gone no matter what, the 'grocery shopping' was a much of an excuse as a reason. He was hired by absentee owner and would be carpetbagger Orthwein. Effectively he was given carte blanche in Foxborough, the only thing Orthwein cared about was getting a team in St Louis. Any even moderately involved owner would probably have pissed Parcells off after being the biggest tuna in the bowl. It's no coincidence he bailed on New England to go to work for hands off Jete owner Hess. Sort of an irony after he ended up working for Woody The Idiot suddenly a meddling half competent owner looked bettter to him and he went to work for the most meddling owner of all in Jerruh

Show me how many rings and glory before and after brady. Brady made it work with value and system guys. Brady made it work with Doug grabriel, Caldwell, gaffney. Yes Bill is the best to ever do it. However so isn't the QB who actually throws the ball.
He ran the organization. He placed value on positions, and placed less on WR. It was more successful than anyone ever has been.
