No it proves sitting did nothing to prevent Kurt Warner having his best season ever as a pro his first year playing. He threw for 41 TDs, his offense got something which is extremely rare, a nickname as the Greastest Show on Turf, he won the MVP and Won the superbowl. Are you honestly telling me Warner never improved with experience? Come on.
The fact that some good players sat doesn’t mean they were good players because they sat.
We are in a unique situation where even if Maye isn’t ready to play we have nothing to lose by getting him through the growing pains and getting him experience. We haven’t even tried to build a team that can win.
So if one guy did it once that’s proof everyone can? Bizarre take
There is no improving on what is one of the greatest seasons ever by a QB.
What could hurt Maye is that in practice he can work out any bad habits he picked up in college. He can work on his footwork and learn how to read through his progressions.
In practice he doesn't have that stress of needing to win, he only needs to focus on improving his mechanics and understanding of playing in pro style offense.
If he is thrown out onto the field, he will feel the pressure of needing to win. In that case he might ditch the mechanics he is still working on and go back to what worked in college and thus never progress.
In practice is where he is going to make the most progress. Just ask Ryan Leaf who thought he only needed to show up for GameDay how that worked out for him.
