If they keep him at least he will be cheap,

I feel bad for Cam.

I know people are going to dump on him and some of it is warranted... but yeah I can't shake the feeling of feeling bad for the guy. He wants to succeed and seems like he truly wants to gets Ws in New England. Wanted to prove all his doubters wrong. I'm sorry Newton.

Agreed. He is likeable and I like him. But he is what he is and it’s not good enough.

He looked good the first 3 games before covid-19. Let's not overreact just like people were saying Brady was done after not knowing it was 4th down

.
He didn't look all that good in the first three games and has looked like crap since.

He looked good throwing the ball for a quarter against Seattle. That's it, really. He was bad against the Raiders and they just ran the ball against Miami. After teams figured out you can just stack the box because Cam won't throw all over you, he's been one of the worst quarterbacks in football. How many of his good plays came off play action when his first read was wide open? He hasn't shown the ability to actually play the position and sit in the pocket going through his reads aside from 15 minutes against the worst pass defense in football.

This is a grown man who is a former MVP, it's not just his fault and the weapons around him are horrendous, but let's stop treating Cam like a rookie, it's so condescending. Tom f'in Brady didn't get as much leeway last year with the same terrible weapons around him.

I feel bad for him too. He was given a chance to resurrect his career and has failed. It's to the point now that even Bill is doubting him. That FG on 3rd down with 12 seconds left in the half was proof of that.

Yep...and that's what we said at the pub when it happened: Bill doesn't think that much more highly of Cam than he does of Hoyer right now...

i say we extend him still, need competition at the qb position this coming offseason.

After a lot of thinking...

Maybe I'd be open to a one season extension if we draft a young QB. Sit him behind Cam. Cam will be cheap and if Bill thinks 2022 is when we'll truly be competitive, its not a terrible decision. Maybe play Cam for like 7-9 weeks and then let the new blood take over.

I still think its premature to put all of cams struggles on him alone. You would think after calling Brady done last year and watching him tear it up in Tampa this year we would readjust our thinking to "Hmm maybe the weapons are the problem" but instead its the same argument of "hes done, cut him!"

now, dont get me wrong. Bradys season last year was MILES ahead of Cam newton this year. But, maybe Cam looks better and plays better with actual NFL receivers and tight ends who can get open and make plays.

Cam blew the bills game with the fumble. But he also was the only reason we were in it to begin with willing the game with his legs. Its why I think Bill is sticking with cam. he has to know the receivers suck. its also an indictment on Stidham...

Cam can't read a defense and isn't very accurate. I'd rather see Stidham get a chance.

First 2 games combined: 96.8 passer rating
Next 3 games: 48.5 rating
Last 2: 91.5 rating

Hope there's not a 2-3-2-3 pattern here. Lol

Tom e Curran said there is a possibility cam newton is back. He isn't going to command a high salary.

Assuming the patriots dont go out and sign someone like Jimmy G they could get him back for 10-15million as a bridge type deal and draft a QB high.

While his performance hasn't been there it seems he has been a great teammate and mentor to young guys like meyers
