Reiss & Yates; no Rodak.

New England Patriots 53-man roster projection (v. 1) - ESPN Boston

They agree:

  • Ebner makes it, but no ST-only LB.
  • Jones, Ninkovich, Francis are the 3 locks at DE.
  • Thompkins makes it.
Obviously, there are health issues. They mention guys w/ current problems -- Gronk, Edelman, McDonald. They don't mention "glass" histories -- e.g. Dowling.

I don't see Francis as lock, actually I don't think either of their projections is very good personally.

I'm OK with the roster Reiss posted. I have only 3 disagreements.

1) I don't think the team will start Gronk on the PUP list. Therefore, Blount or Bolden needs to go. My guess is that Bolden goes.

2) I have Jenkins over Thompkins.

3) I have Cole or even a LB/STer like Beauharnais over Ebner.

I agree that the most difficult decisions will be made at DE.

Reiss does point out that Jenkins could be available after Week 1, otherwise I would be a bit nervous of having three rookies at WR behind two veterans that have struggled to stay on the field. (although I am normally a fan of keeping the young guys when we can) If Jenkins remained in town as a shadow roster player, that would be fine by me.

My question is why?? Because of your moniker, or because it is good for the team??...

At best, if he does make it, he will be the third string emergency quarterback...

People have binkies every year that they root for to make the team. Why question his reasoning? Firstly you already know the answer and secondly it doesn't really matter.

Because I can... have always found hero worshippers who do not understand the dynamics of this team, quite aggravating.

Tebow is not a binky, he is an idol.....

Meh I hope we keep him and I don't particularly like him. He has a good work ethic and knows how to win some games. As much as people hate on Tebow, he took the broncos as far as Manning did. I am not feeling too confident about Mallet either considering he has barely seen the field.

I'm good with Mallett barely seeing the field.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing something from him in pre-season games though.

Out of the two, I'm digging Yates' projection more. The only two items that I'll disagree with are Benard over Buchanan and including Gregory on the 53.

Because it's good for Tebow. He doesn't really care about what's good for the team as a whole. None of them do. The guy was a Jets fan last year, and a Broncos fan the year before. But you already knew that before you asked him, so why take the thread in that direction?

For the same reason.....

So basically you just wanted to troll. Great..got it.

TebowTalk:

25% are posts talking about how he is actually doing or might be used.
25% are posts by fans
50% are people *****ing about Tebow posts.

Here's a novel idea - If you don't like TebowTalk, don't ******* engage in TebowTalk.

Who do you keep at S over Gregory?

Who do you keep at S over Gregory?

Honestly, I would sign a street FA (or anyone that can tackle) over Gregory. I dislike his game that much. But I realize that he's going to be on the final 53 unfortunately because of the way his contract is structured.

Ebner. Gregory can't play special teams and McCourty, Wilson, Wilson, and Harmon should be enough depth.

Perhaps this "should be enough" if all A. Wilson is what he seems, and T. Wilson steps up. However, Gregory is certainly a capable backup and insurance policy, even if both Wilson's are great this year.

Personally, I would not be surprised to see Gregory start Game One. I also wouldn't be shocked to see him cut.

They'd save a bit of money if they release him compared to keeping him on the 53.

The only players who cost MORE this season to cut than to keep are:
Brady
Amendola
GRONK
Chandler Jones
Hightower
T. Wilson
Collins
Dobson
