This damned story has me goofed. On one hand I disbelieve all of it but on the other hand the volume of crap is kinda spooky. One thing I’d hate would be Belichick on some other team. Likewise Brady, seeing him on another team would literally make me sick

Cannot really compare the Montana/Young to Brady situation as Montana has missed most of 2 seasons and Young came in and won MVP while he was hurt. If Brady had missed 2016 and Jimmy G was 1st team All Pro then the conversation is much different. Favre/Rogers was different as well as Favre was talking retirement every off season. Brady claims he wants to play another 4 or 5 years. I honestly hope Jimmy G turns out to be a stud but the jury is still out.

you do realize that Nick foles went 27td's to 2 interceptions one season and then regressed the following year.

Carson wentz/Deshaun watson looked lights out and better than Jimmy this year before they got injured. Will all these QB's stay on this pace and we'll have a league of all aaron rogers/brees? We'll see but chances are slim they all will remain on this pace. Derek carr looked great for a season or two and regressed this year.

I guess if Garoppolo becomes matt ryan or drew brees and can win 1 superbowl in 10 years...or you can keep brady for 3 and almost be a coinflip to go to the super bowl which do you take?

I take the league MVP. because there is a better percentage of winning a superbowl the next couple years with brady.

Who would you rather have to win a game right now? TB is the MVP of the league at age 40 and Patriots are favorite at another Superbowl. No other QB wins SB 51 other than TB12. It's fine to think about the future but TB12 is still going strong no sign of physical decline yet.

IMO, Belichick knows that Brady gives him the best chance to win a Super Bowl right now and for the next 2-3 years. That is why Brady is here and Jimmy G is gone. Jimmy G still has to prove he can take a team to the playoffs, never mind win a Super Bowl.

Montana was injured and Young was already THE guy in SF. Not really the same scenario. JG had zero chance of being THE guy in New England while Brady was here and upright.

The question also only matters if you think Jimmy Garoppolo will eventually have the resume of HOFer and Super Bowl champion Steve Young

Jimmy may have 1 year or 15. He may be playing somewhere else in 2 or 3 years, or he may be not playing at all (see RGIII, Colin Kaepernick).

News flash: A player can only do some good for your team if you can have him under contract, and not have that contract also wreck the team-building process.

JG's value to the Patriots was expiring, fast, unless Brady was to be shown the door.

Both Dale and Holley appear to be unaware that:

1. Garoppolo is a Free Agent at the end of the 2017 season. They spent 5-10 minutes discussing how dumb it was to trade him now rather than just wait for the end of the season.
2. The Pats no longer had the cap room to extend Garoppolo (see @MainePatsFan26 's post on this ).
