Envious of that Seattle Defense.

Seattle- 17.0 points allowed per game
NE- 17.9

Seattle- 335.6 yards allowed per game
NE- 353.2

Seattle- 235.5 passing yards allowed per game
NE- 253.6

Seattle- 100.2 rushing yards allowed per game
NE- 99.5

Seattle- 42.7% on 3rd down
NE- 41.3%

Seattle also allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick and the jests to score 17 points and put up 310 yards. But as usual on here Pats allowing 17 points and 330 yards to the jests is proof they are bad but Seattle allowing 17 points and 310 yards is a evidence of a great defense. AND no Eric Decker didn't play against Seattle.
Honestly, all those stats aren't the main issue. The lack of turnovers is the big issue. Not forcing any turnovers at all puts pressure on you're offense no matter what. It will fail in the postseason when facing top offenses. Hopefully this last game is a sign that they will improve in that area.

And the interesting thing is that turnovers seem to be notoriously hard to predict going into the playoffs. For many years now the Pats D has been a turnover machine, even when the rest of the defense has been maligned for lacking "playmakers". Yet when the playoffs come around, typically they would create 0 turnovers in the games they end up losing.

Similarly, in those same losses, the offense has been guilty of VERY uncharacteristic turnovers (remember the year Brady went like 300 pass attempts without an INT, then threw one in one of the first series of the Jets playoff loss?). All this is to say, I wouldn't be betting any money on turnover numbers in any single playoff game based on the abundance or lack of them in the regular season.

One thing that does trend well for us though? We're tied for 4th in fumbles forced. It's entirely possible that if that keeps happening we'll hit a string of good fortune and 2 FF becomes two important FR's.

Yesterday's seattle-TB game is proof you shouldn't start threads like this.

Why? Tampa beat Seattle, but Tampa only had 14 points and 338 yards of offense. It wasn't like they lit Seattle up or anything.

For what it's worth, New England's defense, on the season, has only allowed 0.9 points a game more than Seattle (17.0 to 17.9) and just 18 yards of offense more per game (335 to 353). If the average team has about 12 offensive possessions a game, that means the Patriots are allowing just 1.5 yards per possession more than Seattle.

I'd prefer Seattle's defense too, but incredibly, the numbers are a lot closer than people would think.
