Josh Boyce say "HI". Remember. He had just earned that job when he got hurt..

I think that was less of him earning it and more of throwing **** at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Including college, Boyce has 12 career returns. He's the man!

Sorry that you don't like facts, Mack. Boyce earned the job on special teams prior to getting hurt. It doesn't matter that he only had 3 KRs in college. Just because TCU didn't use him there doesn't mean he's inept. Boyce returned kicks in HS as well.

You must have just started following this team. Either that or you've been asleep for years. Belichick gives people playing time based on what they do in practice. If you don't do well, you don't see the field. We've seen it before. Crable. Bequette. Price. etc.

6 different players returned kicks and 2 returned punts.

6 different KR's is not by design. It was an attempt to create some explosive returns by testing different players after nearly 1/4 of Blount's return yards are made up from 2 of his 17 attempts.

Yeah, just too bad it took BB most of the year to recognize his KR talent.

Mack - What part of EARNED his way onto the kick return team do you have problems understanding?

This is NORMAL for rookies. That they have to earn their playing time. Wherever it is. Yet you and strongplyr seem to have this mental block in understanding that.

Boyce started returning kicks in his 6th NFL game.

This is inaccurate information also.

Boyce's 6th game on the active roster was against Carolina and he didn't see the field. Also, the Patriots didn't have a kick return that game.

Boyce started doing kick returns in his 7th game against Houston. He had 6 returns that game. He had 2 more against Cleveland and 1 against Miami before going down to injury.

Again, Boyce earned playing time on Special teams. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that his playing time on special teams coincided with an increase in playing time on the field..

Boyce didn't return a kick until game 12. That would certainly qualify as "most of the year".

Yes. For some reason PFR left out his week 2 game against NYJ. It was his seventh game. I was agreeing with you that he earned his time.

I was referring to the games he was active for. He started returning kicks in his 7th NFL game, as stated above, which was game 12 for NE.

A lot of it probably had to do with having almost nobody else to catch the ball with Gronk, Dobson, Thompkins out. But, was great to see him out there vs the browns.

Mods can you please remove this pointless debate about Josh Boyce to another thread. This thread is supposed to be about cuts and signings from around the league, not some dumb pi$sing contest.

But you were responding to someone who was noting that he didn't return kicks until most of the season was over. The fact that Boyce wasn't good enough in the eyes of the Patriots to crack the lineup earlier doesn't change the fact that Boyce didn't return any kicks until game 12.

Okay. It's truly not that important to me at this point. The Patriots' kick return has been below average for a while and I expect that to continue in 2014.

Darren Sproles cut.

That loaded Saints offense the last 5 years doesn't seem so loaded anymore.

Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet · 4m
Releasing #Saints RB Darren Sproles saves$3.5M & continues the house cleaning of sorts on offense. Lance Moore cut, Pierre Thomas in danger
