like rob said every team now has some money to spend even teams that were in cap hell a few months ago can get 10 million with a few small moves, its now a time to sign your own stars not go after other big names and really T.J Ward is the only big name out there that can help the pats and no way the browns let him go,

the price for a good starting CB may have been 5 and 6 million last year but its now 7 plus the same way its been for the last 5 years or so before 2013 so it should not be a big shocker that the pats would have to pay 7.5 or 8 million per to re-sign Talib

I think the Browns will let him go or he won't want to go back. The Browns are rumored to be after Byrd.

If the Pats were going to go after a big impact guy, I'd love a good safety or an impact DE like Johnson or Houston, or even Griffen.

Yes. I'd bet on it. IMO it will be Manning's last year. He can be cut in 2015 with 19 million in cap savings.

I tend to doubt it. Elway doesn't seem to be a guy who is going to be a Super Bowl or bust guy and willing to go back to being a 5-11 or 6-10 type of team or worse after trying to sell it all for one Super Bowl.

Yes, cutting Manning next year saves $19 million, but what good is it if you have eaten a big chunk of that savings being aggressive in free agency this year with guys like Michael Bennett making $10-12 million vs. the 2015 cap and no QB?

I expect Elway to do what the Pats and other teams that are consistently successful do - try to build to put a winner on the field now while not sacrificing the future to do it. They may be more aggressive than the Patriots, but I don't think considerably. History in the NFL has shown (at least in the era of free agency and the cap after the first few initial years) that loading up to make one last run at a title is usually a losing bet.

If I was a betting man, I would expect the Broncos to be a player in free agency but not nearly the aggressive player that people think. They might go after one, maybe two bigger name free agents, but mostly try to fill all their holes with mid level to bargain free agents. We already saw that they didn't trump the Colts for D'Qwell Jackson in a big area of need (ILB unless they want to gamble on Paris Lennon as a starter again).

Also, expect the Broncos to use either a first or second day pick on a QB since they know Manning isn't long for the NFL world. They will be building for the future this offseason as much as they are to win now.

Jared Allen and ward is my wish list if the pats signed them I would not care what other moves they make as long as they upgrade center through the draft

Field Yates ? @FieldYates
The Bears announce they won't re-sign KR/PR Devin Hester. He was fifth in the NFL at 27.7 yards per KR & averaged 14.2 yards per PR.

Once again we're reminded that Edelperson is not just a WR but a top PR as well

If I were to offer a reason as to why it would be more likely that Denver would bring in Revis than the Patriots doing so, I'd just point to past history.

I have no issue with that argument, I'm simply arguing against people citing the difference is cap space as why Denver is more likely, because it simply isn't true.

You're correct on the past history thing though, for sure.

Schefter is reporting that half of D'Qwell Jackson's $22m deal is guaranteed. When you add in first and second year base salaries, Jackson is going to see at least most of that money.

Good for him.

not to mention we have no KR.

saints are shopping darren sproles and lance moore.

Sproles would be an instant sign imo

Sproles is an instant pass with Vareen on the team.

I might consider Lance Moore if they are giving him away. He was mediocre in 2013, but he had a career year in 2012. If the Pats can get him on the cheap, he might be worth trying to see if he rebounds this season. Granted he is another small, quick not fast slot type WR.

If those Saints players were worth their cap hits, they wouldn't be on the trade block. There are better ways for the Pats to spend their cap room.

They're not worth it to the Saints.

Sproles has played in 44 games in the last three seasons. Vereen has played in 26.

Until Vereen shows he can be a durable player, we need to plan on having a second third down back. The position is way too important to this offense, and Sproles is a good one.

A backup third down back isn't worth anywhere near a $3.5M cap hit.
