Edelman has 500,000 reasons to hope for a Patriots victory

Miguel Benzan

Explaining why Julian Edelman has 500,000 reasons to hope for a Patriots victory over the Colts on Sunday.

I should note that w?h?e?n? if Julian Edelman earns his bonus it will cause the Patriots to lose 1 million in cap space for the 2015 season. Julian Edelman’s 2015 cap number will increase by $500,000 from $4,156,250 to $4,156,250....

Fixed the bad karma line.

Those last two numbers should be different, no?

Fixed last two numbers. Good catch, pun intended. Credited you for the fix.

I'm betting that if New England gets another Lombardi, then the reduced salary cap and payout to Julian won't be any problem for them.

Sincerely hope The Squirrel gets Bobby Kraft's money.
It's not like he's already made big career bucks (NFL style). He's one player who seems like he has lots of good options post playing career. Could even be nation wide should he shine in the national spotlight in a couple SBs. Make it so, Julian!

He is worth every penny and more. I am actually amazed at how much production the Pats get out of him and Lafell keeping in mind how little money they make. I think if they were both free agents this year, they could easily earn double their salaries.

Guess we should be rooting for the Colts Sunday. We'll. Save a million bucks and get a higher draft pick.

You left off the /sarc tag. I hope.

I'm sure he wants to win anyway but that check must be a nice thing to look forward to.

I dunno, but I'd change "hope for" to "work towards."

Edelman and McCourty both seem to be working hard to position themselves for media careers post-football. More power to them.

OT, but my bet for an NFL coach to come out of this crop of players is Matthew Slater.

I love seeing many ex-Pats do well post playing days, Brown, Harrison, McGuinest, Bruschi, Bledsoe, Chatham...
