Report: Jimmy Garoppolo Not Expected To Be Traded

He says his sources within the organization are suggested they will hold onto him. Not sure i believe this. Are they just going to let him walk after 2017?

LOL... I was just gonna post this OTHER tidbit...

Adam Schefter believes Patriots will end up trading Jimmy Garoppolo

...getting dizzy...

If ESPN say he isn't getting traded then who are the Patriots taking at #1 and #12?

If he does get traded, we need to be careful about what future picks the Pats get, because unfortunately, we have to be concerned about confiscatory actions by the NFL*.

Imagine if the Pats got pick #33 this year and Cleveland's 1st round pick in 2018.

Now imagine the Pats win the SB next year while Cleveland has a top 3 pick. The NFL* might find an excuse to confiscate that pick, and a lot of fans tired of the Pats winning would not object, because integrity, er parity, er the Pats cheat.

I think thats a brilliant idea to trade for Clevelands 1st in 2018 so if theres a stud QB we can groom as the heir we can use that to draft a QB in the 1st roun d next year and rookie contracts in 2018 won't expire till after the 2021 season perfect sling shot if we can grab a potential heir QB next season

All the buzz on the NFL shows is that Cleveland NEEEEEEEEDS Jimmy.

Until someone argues that San Fran needs him more...and someone else then points out that Jimmy's from Chicago, or something.

He is quietly becoming the hottest commodity out there.

Just as Palpatine foresaw.

If CLOWN head and his circus cronies come after the Patriots again, they better have an air tight case because there is no action by them that would be more open to scrutiny. I also believe that the time has come that the powers that be at Foxboro will not be turning the other cheek again. Don't get me wrong, I am well aware what these individuals and some owners are probably capable of but I think they have taken their last swipe at this organisation for quite a while. Just my 2c's.

If we assume that Goodell is a rational actor, you'd be right. But... Goodell has not been a rational actor at any point in the last 3 years when the Patriots are concerned.

I really don't think Cleveland will trade for Jimmy G. I think they are building the team brick by brick, and are not concerned with immediate success. I think with the #1 they will trade down, unless they think their guy is can't miss HOF type player, which would shock me. I think there is a good chance they trade down with 12 as well.
I think Cleveland's strategy is to use to the draft to build their entire roster, and be patient while the team grows up.
Whether that is right or wrong, or turns out to work or not, that's where I think they are going.
I expect Kessler to be their QB this year.

Ha! They had no case whatsoever and just assaulted the character of the GOAT with ZERO repeat ZERO evidence.
They are probably laughing that it was so easy to get away with, and will be quick to up something new if they feel it is needed.

Trading Jimmy is, assuming Brady doesn't fall of a cliff, the only option. As much as I like him, it seems to be the only logical option. The way I see it, this is what you could theoritically do:

1- Trade Jimmy now.
2- Keep him for the year, franchise him and then trade him.
3- Keep him for the year, let him walk at the end of the year.
4- Trade Tom Brady
5- Keep Jimmy, franchise him, keep him in 2018.

2 is a risk, now is probably when is value is at its peak and unless Brady gets hurt/struggles badly, Jimmy won't see the field next year. We also know that THIS year QB class sucks. Is next year's as bad?

3 is stupid asset management, likely won't happen.

4 is blasphemy and has terrible cap implications.

5 is pretty dumb from a cap management perspective and that would likely piss Jimmy off unless they promise him to let Tommy walk after 2018... but why would they if TB12 is still playing at GOAT level? I mean, he will be 42 after 2018 and Father Time is undefeated, but...

I mean, trading him now seems to be the right move.

The 2d CCA and Article 46 of the CBA say "hi!" and we like the windows open (so the air flows thru).

He can do pretty much whatever he wants, as long as 3/5 of the exec committee have his back.

Then he leaves for a comp pick in 12 months, the value only goes down when next season starts.

Even if you franchised and traded him the value goes down cause a team wouldn't have a year of cheap control and they know you don't want to pay him what the franchise tag costs.

Franchise tag is around $20 million for a QB. Unless Brady retires (not gonna even consider being traded) there is no way you can pay that to JG. For starters, that's more than Brady makes, and two if you gave them both the same pay you'd have $40 million a year in QB salaries.

So, I think you're down to 1 or 3. He's getting traded unless there is just no market for him and its looking like a great market for the Pats right now.

2- Keep him for the year, franchise him and then trade him.
I kind of see them doing this, as this is what they did with Cassel. It gives them a good backup at a low cost, and gives Brisset another year to learn the system. And if there's a market for Jimmy next year, maybe they get a second or better, as they did with Cassel. And if not, they probably get a third round comp pick.

I've heard everything to a 1+4 this year to they'll be lucky to get a 2 this year. But I have faith that Bill will make the right decision.

Sounds like Patriots propaganda. They want more out of his potential suitors so they're saying "eh, f*** it, we'll just keep him if you guys don't really want him bad enough to pay up..."

Mix that in with the reports of preliminary TB12 extension talks past 2019 it doesn't jive.

If the above stories about Jimmy G and TB are true, then one of two things happen. 1) Jimmy gets traded or 2) TB12 gets traded on a friendly contract.

lol Ed Werder Maybe if this was the Cowboys....
