Out-of-towner listening to Felger and Mazz for first time in 9 months

No you aren't being forced, you are making a choice. To get them in Nashville you are going out of your way to listen to them.

It seems to me that you have FOMO, fear of missing out. It's a really powerful thing.

I don't understand why displays of stupidity and derision are entertaining.

I think there are elements of FOMO, tribalism and schadenfreude going on there.
Show me where they hurt you.

I can’t tell if this is a serious post or not? You got me though, I’m not “forced” you’re right.

Felger and Mazz is schtick and it's been schtick since the day the show started. I've said it before, Felger is a contrarian. Always has been, always will be. This goes back to his days on the Bruins beat, covering the Pats for the Herald, and his initial radio shows on ESPN 890 and his appearances on EEI before 890. Both of them say **** which they may or may not believe themselves simply to piss callers off and generate phone traffic.
When the Pats win, it's because the other team sucks. When the Pats lose its because they suck. Anyone remember "Brady in Decline"? He was apparently in decline because he lost back to back AFC title games and - God Forbid - didn't win a super bowl from 05-14. They are the Dan Shaughnessy (curly haired boyfriend) of the radio.

I've always had a grudging (very) admiration for Felger because he is 100% honest about what he is doing. His job is to push buttons and he does it well. Maz on the other hand makes me ashamed to be a Tufts grad and has no right to be on the air.

Christ now I sound like the President. So THIS is what it is like to live in Hungry

Or to be in a beer hall in Munich in the 1920s...

Whoa is me! I was forced to listen to a podcast and now I'm outraged! Let me tell everyone my outrage!

Belichick has major personality disorders. (Typed by a loyal Team BB member)
Puzzling how Felger rips Belichick to shreds anytime he's mentioned, after Bill wrote a very nice preface to Felger's Patriots book years ago.

Of all the things you can do with your time listening to that should never be one of them.
Once in a while when I'm in my car I'll tune in to reinforce why I don't listen.

I actually met someone from that show a few years ago. When I told him that I don't listen he asked why. I didn't want to tell him that the show sucks so I told him that they don't cover sports outside of Boston enough. I think he bought it.

I caught the Monday podcast yesterday night and the first 3 callers struck me as really weird. I'll list what they said below, but my larger takeaway is this:

Felger and Mazz cultivate callers that either largely mimic their twisted takes, or else there's something in the water around Boston.

The first 3 callers of the show made 3 points:

1. "Belichick was hard to take as a HC because of his press conference demeanor even when he was winning SBs. But Mike McDaniels is acting like Scarface and he's losing which makes him doubly hard to take."

Now, do Boston area fans really share the media's hatred of Belichick's demeanor? The media hated him because it was their job to despise an un-media friendly coach. But why does this carry over to the fans? People anywhere else in the USA wouldn't care at all about this. Most would probably enjoy their coach snubbing the media. Why do Boston fans follow Felger's lead on this? It's bizarre.

2. "Schooler is here to make special teams tackles and he acts all tough all the time but he was flat on his back on the PR return. Schooler should be cut!!!"

Felger says Schooler is so annoying and he acts like a hardo (how do you spell that). Did not disabuse the idea of cutting Schooler.

3. "Gonzo should be traded tomorrow because he's constantly injured. Get rid of him."

This speaks for itself.

4. "Vrabel humiliated himself running down the field for Gibson's TD."

Felger and Mazz said he looked like such a "homer." ??? I have no idea why they called Vrabel a homer. He's the coach of the team. He's supposed to root for both team's equally?

These two talk show hosts have some truly bizarre takes which are largely imitated by their callers. I was reminded why I haven't listened to the station since last October.
1. I absolutely hated Bill's pressers and stopped watching them pretty early. He was a smart enough guy to be able to provide the fans with info without giving away secrets. He chose to be a ****head to the reporters (and subsequently the fans) instead.
2. There isn't much special in special teams these days.
3. I jokingly referred to Gonzo as Ras-I Gonzalez but he hasn't missed that many games. And hamstring injuries can linger if you're not careful.
4. This homer enjoyed seeing Vrabel running alongside Gibson. He looked pretty good for an "old guy."

Let's be honest.....
If their criticisms were directed toward any of the other 31 coaches, teams, & players, most here would be agreeing and/or laughing along with them.

1) Belichick has major personality disorders. (Typed by a loyal Team BB member)
2) Schooler does act like a WWE wannabe and has had a few horrible games.
3) Availability is everything in the NFL and Gonzalez has played in 20 out of 36 games (55%)
4) When Pete Carrol races down the field all pumped and jacked, this board erupts in disdain (His gum chewing irritates the hell out of me)
3) Wow! Has it been that many? I may have to go back to calling him Ras-I Gonzalez after all.

I appreciate that Felger isn’t an ass kisser and he’s willing to speak the truth (Belichick is an *******) even if it’s at odds with personal or professional relationships.

Looks like Vrabel saw something special on special teams.

I always defended Bill in the past when he was our coach. He was an ass, but everything he did seemed to be geared at winning, at least in his mind. But now it certainly seems that he has lost his mind, or at minimum has turned into even more of a vindictive, immature, egotistical AH.
Maybe it’s just age, but it a terrible look
for a once revered coach.

Early on Bill had great open pressers with the reporters. We've put up a lot of clips from his 1st 2 years. Then the reporters started in on their negativity and Belichick did what any right-minded person should do to the Boston media. I fail to see why fans would care when whatever he's doing is working.

Belichick turned on the fans? Say what?

You agree on cutting Schooler?

He had never said he isn’t either of those things. Whats actually pathetic is the fans who foam out of the mouth listening to him and then rushing to the internet to whine over it.
