Early signs point to Dansby to Miami

Rookies making that much is the biggest problem with the league. Just because Curry got that deal it doesn't mean everyone should match it.

What happens in three years time when Mayo's deal is up? Will he demand that much?

there should be a rookie cap im hopeing they add one soon.

im guessing mayo could ask for that type of deal when it's he's time to re-sign. but this year. dansby, is the only big name 3-4 ILB to hit the makrket and with not cap. i guess there are a few crazy teams willing to pay

BTW, I like Dansby, but if he is getting his $30 plus million in guarantees, the Dolphins can have him. Too much money for an ILB. I'd rather pay Peppers $14-15 million a year (although I am not 100% sold on doing that) than give Dansby $30 million in guarantees. A top ILB is not nearly as important as a top edge pass rusher unless you have a Ray Lewis (and as good as Dansby is, he is no Ray Lewis). Just the facts.

If the reports are true, the Dolphins might be guaranteeing him significantly more than $30 million. Like $35-40 million. If Dansby is asking for $30 million in guarantees, he would be selling himself a little short by jumping on a plane right away to Miami if they are offering that or slightly less.

And BTW, for all those people who say not to sign Peppers because it hurts the Pats negotiations with Wilfork, other teams giving ridiculous money to players who are lesser than Wilfork like Dansby hurt the Pats negotiations just as much. At least if the Pats make the signing, they get the benefit of signing the player. The Redskins signing Haynesworth, the Cowboys signing Ware, and a bunch of other signings already hurt the Pats resigning Wilfork and the Pats reaped none of the benefits.

I am very Confident Peppers will be a Patriot. He wanted to play in the 3-4, he wants to go to a winner, at least a contender. He was humbled in the superbowl by Tom Brady. He was humbled in the regular season by us. He has made a ton of money forever. He was unhappy in a situation knowing no matter what he did his quaterback couldn't win a shootout. We have the best QB excellent ownership a team where he will already feel like a winner, and he wants a chance at a superbowl he will get all that here. If the reports are half accurate that he turned down good money endorsements because he didn't want the spot light he won't have to worry about carrying the team here like he would in Washington or Chicago they would look at him as a football savior. He will be in New England if we want him and make a fair offer. If we make a fair offer and he shuts it down I will be shocked. What can the other teams guarantee besides money? The redskins are 3 years away from competing in their own division.Philly is our only obstacle.

I like Dansby but as you highlight, $35m in guarantees for an ILB that isn't Ray Lewis, Mike Singletary, **** Butkus is madness.

Maybe the 'Fins think this is the missing piece...?

Isn't that "tampering". I guess that's not enforced.

Yes, it is. Some forms of cheating are not enforced or cared about because people don't understand the ramifications and assume everyone do it. In this particular case, it doesn't hurt because the Cards decided to move on from Dansby. If they wanted to try to resign him, they would be screwed because Danby would know what he could get on the open market and not have to settle for the Cards best offer if it was lower than what he could get.

BTW, now the Seahawks are the favorites for Peppers according to the Chicago Sun-Times and the Redskins aren't interested, but would outbid everyone else if they were. My guess every team will be have been the front runner for Peppers before 12:01 tomorrow morning since half the league already have been. Oh yeah, the Sun-Times now says that early Peppers favorites, the Eagles, are now the favorites to get Aaron Kampman instead. Pre-free agency rumors are fun.

I have no doubts that by the end of the offseason,Parcells will have his team fully loaded and a threat for the East title.....He always plays his cards well.

As beautiful a city seattle is he's ours. But players do love coach carrol. It will say alot to me if Peppers picks money over his best chance at a superbowl.

Actually the only team I would eliminate from the Peppers sweepstakes is Tampa Bay who is reported to be in financial trouble and will sit out much of the offseason FA shopping.

The one thing people are missing that if the rumors that he turned down $14 million a year from the Panthers, it might not be because of money. It might be that he doesn't want to play for the Panthers and might be willing to take less to play for a team that has a legitimate shot at being a contender. The Panthers are in rebuild mode now that they are unsure at most areas other than maybe RB.

I assume you don't mean that playing on the Pats instead of other teams would give him his BEST chance to win a SB...Do you?

I'm starting to sweat.

Peppers, Seattle .....or NewEngland?

Exactly Rob, Washington has a good coach no qb, tough division it will take a few years to turn it around. Seattle new coach in weak division, but questions about the qb and offense in general. Philadelphia, is our biggest compeitor, but I think when you look at Sean Mcdermot calling your plays vs. the chess master BB and the rings we have , the best QB of the modern time, He wouldn't have to be the only or biggest star here. It has to be enticing I see it just like the Moss aqqusition he is sick of losing. He can be great here and a sure fire hof with a ring or 2.

Gotta give Miami credit, when they have a big need they do what is necessary to fill it no matter what.

Teams have never been successful signing big name big money free agents, so what are you crediting them for?

If he ends up in Seattle/Chicago/Washington it will be for a paycheck. If he ends up here or Philly, he wants the ring.

Sure the players like Petey, but wtf did he do in NE? He took a team that made it to the big game, and turned it into a .500 on the slide in 3 short years. Anyone remember the Bledsoe lead mutiny in Miami, waving off the kicking team on 4th? He is a friend, not a coach, and that just doesn't fly in the NFL.

If reports are correct and dansby is really on his way out there then I'm crediting them for being aggressive in doing what they think is best for their team by filling a need a big hole with a really good player, an impact player.

He's pretending on ESPN right now that he's going to visit the Dolphins.

Like it's new info ...

He was just interviewed on NFL Live a few minutes ago and Miami is the ONLY team that he talked about. He said that they "have some things lined up."
