Sad, and even more so that football likely cost him his life.

RIP and I wish them comfort and peace in his loving memory.
I really enjoyed watching him play ... one of my favorites.
He always seemed to play the game the right way ... a true professional.

Dwight was tremendous ...

Bob Waters was a QB for the 49ers who also died of ALS while head coach at Western Carolina. “The Catch” was in a way the beginning of the new look NFL - where the pass is king.

He was a special player and by all accounts one of the good guys.
I can't recall what it was part of (A Football Life maybe?) but a while back I saw a great piece about DeBartolo gathering Clark's team mates for a reunion with him, it was quite moving

It was in SI I believe.

ALS is a horrible way to go.

Hope he and his family find peace.

I'll always have a little place in my heart for Clark for helping shut up the disproportionately large number of Cowboys fans I had already encounted during my early days in the USMC. After yelling "Cowboys suck! FTS!" on the balcony of our barracks, I nearly had to eat my words when Dallas was driving for a game-winning FG. Thank ganja for Lawrence Pillers strip-sacking Danny White.

A friend of mine fought ALS for 17 years. He was a man of faith and an evangelist and basically loved everybody until the end. When his hands failed, he would answer emails with his toes. When he could not longer use his toes, the would draw words in the air with his feet. (His daughter could understand.) That is certainly tough way to go.

Great men like Dwight Clark are taken far too early min this life while repugnant pieces of vile excrement such as Stokoe the Jokoe Goodell continue robbing precious oxygen from the rest of us.

I was old enough unlike some of you to see the 'The Catch' live on TV

It seemed to mark the beginning of what was a dynasty for years after a team being a laughing stock in years prior.... Our Patriots were similar but our 'catch' wasn't really a physical catch,it was a catch in the draft in the 6th round.

My buddy just lost his dad to ALS. Such a brutal way to go. RIP Dwight.
