Drafting in Pairs, Lesson Learned?

I would make 3 points in regards to this:

1. It seems to me that when you notice a serious lack of depth at a given position, you probably do need 2 players rather than just 1.

2. BB seems to like to continually draft specific positions for value and exclude others that don't offer as much return. Given that, you are bound to double dip.

3. It also seems to me that BB drafts against retirees. For example when some RBs look like they might retire (and additionally 1 gets traded off midseason), he takes extra RBs.

I just think people are reading too much into this.

I agree with the premise that when drafting that high you are basically selling your soul for at least 3 years to the position. But the Pats didn't double dip because it was safer. They were drafting different positions. Vereen as the 3rd down back and Ridley as the goal-line back. They will have different roles on the team.

Vereen isn't just a 3rd down back.
