Draft day 2: reset

I suspect the Eagles will be going Edge at 64. Several teams have been linked to Trapilo, I'd sweat Carolina or the Giants more than Philly but what do I know. 77 and next year's 2 is a stiff price. I'd imagine it'll depend on how the 2nd shakes out, whether the run on O-linemen continues. RN I think Trapilo will be there at 69, the question is will he be there at 77. I doubt it
5 tackles in R1 is about what I expected. I said the top 6 would be gone before #38, so that's still in play. Ersery should be next, then it's a toss up between Ozzy and Grant. I think it drops off with Belton and and Williams from Texas. If you play what if, a run could include Ersery, Grant and Ozzy, and if Belton or Williams jump the line, I'd want to be in a position to grab Ozzy, assuming they want him.

To me the 2nd round pick is the make-or-break pick for this draft.

Whatever you want to say about Campbell it is highly likely he will be a good player one way or another.
Last year they whiffed on the 2nd pick. Odds of getting a good player drop considerably after this pick.
They really need to make a good pick here.

I heard Barmore pushed to play and both the team's and his doctors were comfortable with the assumed risk that he may have a setback. Whatever. Water under the bridge and we don't here Barmore blaming anyone so...

Regardless of the blame, I don't see Milton Williams playing 80% of the snaps. That's a big number for a guy who never played more than 48%/500 snaps.

Barmore was 66% of the snaps in 2023. I need to see him play 50 snaps a game before I believe he doesn't experience any setbacks.

They need another strong pass-rushing/run stopping DT in the rotation.

I am not saying DT isn't a need. I am just responding to you questioning whether Barmore can play 17 games.

Mike Green
Nic Scourton
TreVeyon Henderson *
Jaylin Noel
Jayden Higgins
Jack Bech
Quinshon Judkins
Donovon Ezeirruaku
Tre Harris
Aireontae Ersery

I’d be happy with any one of these names at 38. Especially Henderson.

Can’t believe Mike Green is still there. Thought he’d be gone by 15 or so. I’m assuming his damage control is not going very well and probably should of called Chris Carter. But seriously. 17.5 sacks last season. He’s a beast still on the table but with some serious question marks.
Albert Breer said that Green had zero 30 Visits to any team. He has two sexual assault allegations against him. One was in High School and the other was at the University of Virginia which led to his dismissal from the team and transfer to Marshall. These are allegations that Green denies, and he was never charged in either case.

A lot of back and forth about OL.

Don't be silly it's still a need. Moses and Bradbury aren't young and Strange only has one year left on his rookie deal and may not be a big factor for Vrabel.

You guys are talking about depth but we still need starting caliber OLs.

Also keep in mind the last time Vrabel mentioned Strange it was as a center. If you just take him at his word then who is our starting LG?

And I've defended Strange and still think he can contribute but he's going to need to prove himself to Vrabel and that could be at center anyway.

I'm probably going WR or defense at 38 but getting some more OLs especially interior OLs is very much still perfectly fine by me and especially something we should go in rounds 3 or 4.
You have a bunch of IOL on the roster already.

If they all suck, well you are badly screwed regardless.

But it is mindless to expend badly needed resources on a position you are fully stocked at.

If you just spent a #1 (Strange), #3 (Wallace), #4 (Robinson), #4 (Sow), #4 (Andrews), #5 (Mafi), #6 (Hines), and none of these guys worked out, you're just DEAD. Finished. Finito. And you signed some free agents as well. We're talking about 2 positions here and you have 8 guys.

Meanwhile you don't have LBs and FSs and edge rushers and WRs and a big DT.

The CB from Michigan. Why is that guy still available ? There was buzz. If he ends up being a star, teams will regret passing on him. And if he’s as good as some suggested before the draft, I’d love to see NE grab him early tonight.
He had a knee injury where he missed half the season and claimed he couldn't run a 40-yard dash at either the Combine or his Pro-Day. Scouts don't believe it's the injury, but an excuse not to run and confirm that he doesn't have the speed to play CB in the NFL. His estimated speed was 4.56.

If I was to take a guess at how their big board looks right now it would be:

1. Donovan Ezeiruaku
2. Treveyon Henderson
3. Jayden Higgins
4. Nic Scourton

Then I thinks there's a bit of a drop off to

Jaylin Noel, Kyle Williams, Jack Bech and Tre Harris at WR
Femi Oladejo at Edge (round 3)
Possibly Darius Alexander and Joshua Farmer at DT
Dylan Sampson at RB (round 3)
Ozzy Trapilo (round 3)
Mason Taylor at TE (not sure about this one. If they like him he could be added to that top list but do they think there's a need?).

Xavier Watts, Jonah Savaiinaea, Tate Ratledge, Wyatt Milum and Jared Wilson are possibilities but the Pats have done very little work on guards and safeties pre-draft.

If it was me, I'd draft one of those top four at 38 and then consider trading back into the latter half of the 2nd round to grab someone falling (probably a WR). Alternatively with so many potential targets on the board, trade back 5-10 spots from 38.

I think people are over thinking this. Draft a long snapper at 38 and address the team's biggest need. Joe Cardona isn't going to play forever.
You know BB would right there talk about value.

Burden is a weapon with the ball in his hands but he can't run routes. There are also reports of him being a pretty obnoxious character and there are questions about his work ethic and desire to learn

My prediction for today:

2nd round: Mike Green
3rd round: Charles Grant
3rd round: Jack Bech
Really hope so but I don't think Grant and Bench make it to our Thirds stater.

I think Green's SA history probably has him off our board.
I'll cosign that. The lack of 30 visits means to me that he will be plummeting tonight as well. Someone will take a chance on the guy, but probably not in R2 either. Reminds me when Aaron Hernandez plummeted.

Really hope so but I don't think Grant and Bench make it to our Thirds stater.
I think both will be there.

There are a lot of good players getting pushed down.

The second round is really deep this year.

Actually the 2nd round started with the 13th and 14th pick and will go deep into the 3rd round

I was just watching some highlights of him.

He can play both FS or SS.

Emmanwori is a baller, if he's there you just don't pass him up. That's the kind of player worth adjusting the rest of the Pats draft around. I'm genuinely surprised Baltimore went with Starks over him

I think Green's SA history probably has him off our board.
I understand why people would think that but I'm betting the Patriots are in a desperation mode

I have written about LSU TE Mason Taylor numerous times. They can get two WR's later in the draft. Taylor turns 21 next month. His 129 receptions and 1,308 yards in just three seasons, are the most in LSU history for the position. The Patriots have two 30, soon to be 31-year-old TE's. Can we expect both of them to make it through the season clean and healthy? Taylor is also a willing blocker and looked good on the blocking sled drill at the combine and pumped 28 reps of 225#'s on the Bench Press. His Gauntlet Drill at the Combine was near perfection. This is the guy that I would be "Pounding the Table" for if I was in the draft room.

I am no draftick, but Luther Burden looks to be the exact kind of receiver that McDaniels loves in his offense. Of course that was the Brady offense and not necessarily what McDaniels will be running this time around.

No thanks, he only puts out effort when he feels like it, I would go Higgins or Noel, or wait for the 3rd and go for Bech or Tory Horton.
