Does Belichick Last Beyond 2023, and What Needs to Happen?

I am guessing Patricia and Judge will still be on the staff but not in the same roles. Maybe Patricia as more of a generalized "assistant head coach" role
Yep. He’ll probably still be OL coach. But that group improved after the dumpster fire earlier in the season.

And Judge back to ST.

Ian doesn't think this forum is a cesspool. Certainly he can correct me on this point if I'm wrong. But I suspect Ian takes pride in what he's been able to sustain here for such a long period of time.

When you read something here that you don't like, or disagree with, then either challenge it or just ignore it. If challenging it gets you nowhere fast then just move onto something else. One can't possibly read every word, or every post, or every thread, there's just too much volume. I skim and skip all the time, probably miss out on some really interesting points, but you can't ingest every ounce of the board. Sounds like you're overwhelming yourself with all of the negativity as you interpret it. Be more discerning in what you choice to spend your time on here.
He's just being a hypocrite. He was one of the most toxic posters before he took his self imposed ban. For him to call the forum a cesspool is laughable. I could post some of the low class posts he's made against other members but it's not worth it. Ian is trying to get us all to do better, so I'll leave it at that.

several people are reporting on the BB-RK "meeting of the minds" on twitter

It would seem that:

-Bill and RK have completed their post season meeting.
-They are both on the same page about how poorly this season went, especially with respect to offense and special teams.
-They agree that significant changes are necessary, especially with respect to assistant coaching assignments.
-There was no arm-twisting of BB necessary to have him recognize the need to make such changes.
-Don't expect dramatic public firings real soon.
-There will be, though, some coaching "reassignments" but perhaps without much fanfare.
-Expect external coaching candidates to interview, perhaps also under the radar, until an agreement is in place
This says nothing of value. It could mean anything. Expect "significant" changes that don't include public firings? Yea, OK. Coaching reassignments w/o fanfare? But significant. Gotcha.

Translation: Bill fell on his sword, admitted the team sucked (no sh*t) and promised to make adjustments but asked to be given time to evaluate and adjust. No public announcements necessary to forgo having to answer media questions.

I love: external coaches interviews "under the radar." Bill, there isn't a game next week. There's no supposed competitive advantage by doing anything under the radar. Every other team looking for coaches have announced the interviews. How do you do "under the radar" interviews for Coordinators while following the Rooney Rule? Unless they're not interviewing coordinators?

What a crock of sh*t. Whoever leaked this is just buying time to appease the masses. I don't get the impression anything "significant" is going to change from this release.

Karras makes $6m guaranteed. You wanted to pay our backup center that?
Belichick never attempted to replace him. That is the problem. They brought in Ryan Bates but never offered the restricted free agent. Stupid.

Chicago did, but Buffalo matched. He was a backup last year who performed very admirably. He’s a starter this year.

Uche spelled Judon
Not much. They’re different players. One can set the edge, the other one really can’t.

They used more Anfernee Jennings at the end to spell Judon. Good player. I’d like to see more of him.

It’s a 10 win team if the ref doesn’t blow the call on the raider TD catch and Stevenson doesn’t fumble away the cincy game largely because the ref didn’t call forward progress stopped. That literally means it had enough talent to win 10 games.
That doesn’t include the blown hunter Henry call either.
Yes. Captain Stone made the point that at 10-6 we’d be in the wildcard game against the jaguars. That’s where Belichick shines. Taking it to a near-rookie signal caller.

Sad...my New Years Resolution was to be as toxic as ever

Do you think that improvement was due to Patricia’s coaching? Maybe, but it wouldn’t shock me if Dante or someone else provided some valuable input. Or maybe they just got healthier or Yates just figured it out.

1. Onwenu made 2nd team All-Pro at guard by PFF. Onwenu can't play LG. He's a RG.
2. Karras makes $6m guaranteed. You wanted to pay our backup center that?

Onwenu is a good player but he was meant to fill the hole at guard left by Mason then Bill decided to be a douche in negations with Karras and lowered the offer after Karras wanted the team to match the Bengals offer. Because of that Bill created a hole at the other guard spot and for some inexplicable reason drafted a guard in the first round despite the fact we have generally filled that position with mid rounders for years and been just fine.

Karras is not a good guard. He can't move. Strange is a huge upgrade over Karras. I mean, we let Karras go when he couldn't find a starting spot for us. Then we went to the Dolphins. They let him go after one year. Then he came back as a backup, played due to injuries, then we let him go.

He's better than Ferentz but gets paid 3x more. Not what you budget for a backup. If you want to replace Andrews with Karras, that's argument you can make, but he is severely limited as a LG.

Why would we spend starter money for backups?

It’s not working yet.

Bill must disagree as he was willing to pay him starting guard money. Regardless of how good or bad Karras is Bill created a hole he didnt need to by being a douche in negations and then decided to fill that hole with a first round pick. Yet another bungling of personnel in recent years.

You just said he wasn't willing to pay him, now he was.

You'll find posts for me critical of Karras long before he left for the Bengals. Time and time again, Karras would pull from the left guard spot, and NEVER get there. He just wasn't mobile, didn't have the speed, his ineptitude would create massive gaps that were always exploited. He's a little more protected as a center. A better guard upgrades the team.

Now as for the Strange pick, I looked at the guys taken after him (the next sevral or a dozen picks), and no one other than Karlaftis stands out as a contributing player yet. That may change in the future, but Strange could very well be the best player of the next 15.

I guess you can look at who we might've gotten at pick 22, but then you'd have to wipe out the proceeds of that trade as well: Strange, Jack Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Carolina's 3rd round pick.

Jack Jones alone is worth more than, for instance, Kaiir Elam.

I don't know. I'm just happy everyone here understands that the question is valid. Belichick's hubris and flaws as a coach are no longer masked anymore, despite his strengths. And the way he sabotaged Mac (he clearly needed all the help he could get with his own flaws) was further proof of that.

Ideally, you technically wouldn't fire him now, give him a year or 2 to fix it.

I won't hold my breath, but if the team still looks mid the next year or two, then yes, move on - because it would show what Belichick truly gives you without Brady - good defense, but mediocre receivers, petty player punishments, unwillingness to target superstars in the draft or free agency, up-and-down locker rooms, suspect coaching staff, mediocre QB play/development, and late season collapses.

This team will probably only improve slightly in record (9-8 or 10-7) and I only say that because the schedule will be tough, because we'll likely be breaking in some new coaches at the start, and maybe a QB, BUT I expect them to be playing their best football at the end of next year, and for them to be highly dangerous.
That hasn't been the case in Four Years now, so...

I don't think it's unreasonable to hope for 10-7 and AFCG...
Surely you can't be serious.
