Does Belichick Last Beyond 2023, and What Needs to Happen?

The board surely has changed because it has become dominated by the whiny losers.
Using this board would be expected to enhance the experience of being a patriot fan. You enhance the experience by hearing others opinions, insights, learning information etc.
when the place you go to for that is dominated by whining entitled people who really have little clue what they are talking about and seem to revel in rooting against the team, then it detracts from the experience of being a fan.
So you leave.
That’s what I did.
I haven’t withdrawn from the patriots a millimeter, I’ve withdrawn from a misery filled, ignorant, whining, subset of people who have taken over the community.
I came back for a day after reading that changes were coming, and already see the same cesspool that I left.
It’s not a statement on the patriots that a group of people that post here are jerks.
I'm not following your entire discussion with Kontra but don't you think you're being a bit harsh here? Seriously, a "cesspool"? Can't imagine your host appreciates that characterization very much.

several people are reporting on the BB-RK "meeting of the minds" on twitter

It would seem that:

-Bill and RK have completed their post season meeting.
-They are both on the same page about how poorly this season went, especially with respect to offense and special teams.
-They agree that significant changes are necessary, especially with respect to assistant coaching assignments.
-There was no arm-twisting of BB necessary to have him recognize the need to make such changes.
-Don't expect dramatic public firings real soon.
-There will be, though, some coaching "reassignments" but perhaps without much fanfare.
-Expect external coaching candidates to interview, perhaps also under the radar, until an agreement is in place

He appears to be making changes for the very reasons I feel that way. Are you saying that you think that Ian is pleased with how the board went this year?

I am guessing Patricia and Judge will still be on the staff but not in the same roles. Maybe Patricia as more of a generalized "assistant head coach" role and Judge in some nebulous role that lets him help make the Special Teams not be trash.

It’s funny that people think belichicks arm would need to be twisted to recognize deficiencies and correct them.

But remember, Belichick is stubborn and arrogant, and intentionally chose to lose SB 52 so he could prove a point….

Ian doesn't think this forum is a cesspool. Certainly he can correct me on this point if I'm wrong. But I suspect Ian takes pride in what he's been able to sustain here for such a long period of time.

When you read something here that you don't like, or disagree with, then either challenge it or just ignore it. If challenging it gets you nowhere fast then just move onto something else. One can't possibly read every word, or every post, or every thread, there's just too much volume. I skim and skip all the time, probably miss out on some really interesting points, but you can't ingest every ounce of the board. Sounds like you're overwhelming yourself with all of the negativity as you interpret it. Be more discerning in what you choice to spend your time on here.

It’s a 10 win team if the ref doesn’t blow the call on the raider TD catch and Stevenson doesn’t fumble away the cincy game largely because the ref didn’t call forward progress stopped. That literally means it had enough talent to win 10 games.
That doesn’t include the blown hunter Henry call either.
Absolutely agree 100%, other than that, the primary reasons for struggling is coaching!

I mean he is arrogant, he hired a guy that’s never coached offense in his life to run his offense because he felt that their ecosystem was good enough that anybody could do anything

It’s part of what makes him a great coach though

you say that nothing has changed ( no scheme, blocking schemes, play designs etc.)
Yet the offense looks like a dysfunctional unit who needs a miracle to get a first down and every flag leads to a punt immediately since patricia took over
You need to wait more weeks for a pass TD than for a doctors appointment.

Will Ian be here after the 2023 season…?
i view Ian as Kraft more than BB, just a great board i always enjoy reading because i think it's always interesting to read any kind of different opinion from the homers to the haters, and i believe that criticism to the team should be called out and discussed because otherwise do you really want a board where everyone just says how great we are and this post gets 2000 agree's, this would be boring
Trying hard to not make any firing coordinators jokes…

I don’t understand your point.

Ian should take pride in what he has created. The actions of the people who show up here are not his fault.

I think he will have to win a playoff game next year or he could be gone. I think Kraft's patience is wearing thin about this team not being competitive for a title or at least to have a puncher's chance in the playoffs.

This year Belichick coached like he was an anti-Belichick. He has another subpar coaching performance next year, it might be the end.

I think if Jonathan gets control of the team by the end of next year (let's face it, Bob is 82. So it is possible) that Belichick may be gone unless the Pats make a decent run in the playoffs. I don't think Jonathan has the loyalty to Belichick that Bob has. But that is just me speculating.
Belichick needs another solid draft class and to recruit a couple leaders as free agents in the tradition of Rodney Harrison and Mike Vrabel. The guys they've brought in have not shown they can be team leaders. The one thing that is a common attribute of the great Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and Bruins teams is veteran leadership. Belichick needs to stop bringing in guys like Bourne and Agholor and more guys like Junior Seau, even if they are long in the tooth.

I hope the Patriots can surround Mac Jones with the greatest coordinators in league history, and all kinds of weapons, and Mac continues his development. One day we may have our own Andy Dalton who can get us to the AFCDG before getting outclassed by an elite QB.

Now Bill seems to be chasing it in a lot of spots because of so many years of bad drafting and poor personnel decisions.
This. Paying Mason and not Thuney. Then letting Mason go for for a token. That comes to my mind.

Not getting help for Judon, who tapered off at the second half of the season notwithstanding careful management of his snap counts, being g content with Thanksdad to fill the departed Karras’s shoes, etc etc.

Seventy is old enough to think he’s slipping.

Huh???

I didn't write what you're responding to. That's so weird

1. Onwenu made 2nd team All-Pro at guard by PFF. Onwenu can't play LG. He's a RG.
2. Karras makes $6m guaranteed. You wanted to pay our backup center that?
3. Uche spelled Judon
