I love all the Super Bowl porn, but after watching Turning Point, Do Your Job III and America's Game for SB53... I think Turning Point was the best one. It's on youtube for free if you haven't seen it.

Random observation: the two almost-TDs by Brandin Cooks were actually way more catchable than I remembered. Neither one was really a pass break up since the defender never hit the ball away, and there wasn't that much in the way of incidental contact on either play. Neither was a gimme, but the ball was in reach for him to still make a solid two-handed grab both times.

Hard to fault him for the pick though, the ball was just a duck-and-chuck floater, and Gilmore went where it was actually thrown while Cooks was still trying to go where the play meant it to go until it was too late. And in anything like a jump ball situation Gilmore was going to win anyway because he's bigger and stronger than Cooks.

A defender doesn't have to "hit the ball away" to make a pass break up.

Won’t lie, after losing weeks 14-15, I did not see it ending in confetti for the good guys. D, running, discipline, unselfish stars. Winners.

Just about everyone here thought they were done after the Steeler game

I was very happy when we traded Cooks. His performance in the SB was justification as to why they let him go.

I wouldn't have minded keeping him at a reasonable salary but I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere near what the Rams gave him. He is a good not great player who can't be the focal point of an offense. Would have been fun to see what he brought to the table with Edelman on the field at the same time.

In fact, If Cooks had actually held onto the ball at the back of the End Zone, McCourty had shoved him out before getting 2 feet down.

I was only happy because I knew he was gone after 2018 and expected only to get a 2nd round pick rather than Isaiah Wynn.

That was the game the defense began to jell and get off the field on 3rd down. The 14 penalties were the issue that day.

...In all, what they [LAR] did would have worked most of the time. They held the Pats to 13. Unfortunately for them, the Pats held them to 3. LMAO, go **** yourself, Wade.
The self-inflicted mistakes made by the Pats offense, moreso than whatever that SonofaBum did, were the main reasons why it scored only 13 points...should've been over 20, and there was nothing that the Lams could've done about it...and Ditto to the GFY Wade.

Correct, I more meant that the defender didn't literally force the ball out of Cooks's grasp directly. The defender made the catch harder, but not physically impossible - he could have still reached the ball and make the grab, but didn't. Cooks was too passive at the point of the catch.

I think Cooks frustrates people in spite of being a good player because he's got every individual thing you need to be genuinely elite... but he never quite is. What makes it even weirder is that by all accounts he's a good guy who works hard and isn't dumb or anything, he's basically a Tyreek Hill clone on paper, only not a scumbag, but is somehow substantially less than that on the field.

But the offense was terrible

I watched both last night....and also the 'turning point" one as well.

I think I have had my fill of "Pats Porn" this off-season...youtube really has everything you could ever want from "all of TB's TD's" to "All of TB's comebacks"...I found myself hooked all summer....

But enough is enough...I am onto week 1!

So, on multiple occasions the Rams had a CB covering Develin out wide and left a LB on Edelman because they were playing zone???? I'm sorry, but the whole Wade Phillips is a genius thing took a stumble there.........

13 points though, with that RAM offense..

Rams should have won going away only giving up 13 I would say their D game plan worked very well, whatever it was.

Oh absolutely - - 99% of that D gameplan by Phillips was genius.

That 1% turned out to be pretty crucial though. He didn't cover ALL the bases. They had no plan for it.

It's an unforgiving sport.

I knew we had it as long was we got the 2 seed

You don't really know if that 1% was bad. Hell Belichick let Thurman Thomas run all over the Giants on purpose in SB 25.

13 points in the Super Bowl to the Pats means the D game plan for the Rams was perfect. Pats D won it.

What the Rams D failed at was getting 3rd down stops when the Pats were backed up. Thus they rarely had short fields (Allen helped here too). The Rams were always having to drive 70+ yards.

Key word in your post is "let". BB was prepared for it - - it didn't catch him off guard. He just prioritized around it.

The tweet (which for some reason isn't loading now) said something to the effect that the Rams had not prepared for the 22 with 5 wide and had no strategy for it at all. They hadn't even prepared for the results of it or prioritized for or against it and what it would mean for the overall gameplan.

There's a big difference.
