I wasn’t high on howell , really didn’t like any qb from last years class. but I couldn’t believe it when we took zappe with him still there. From what I remember he was mocked alot higher than 5th rd in most ones i read
It's wild to me that so many people could be so high on Drake Maye and yet not like Sam Howell, who outperformed Maye in that system and is the only Freshman QB to ever start at UNC.

Yes
He could still develop as our 3rd String QB for next year.....while losing.

I say play Cunningham the rest of the way. Mac sucks. Zappe sucks. Grier has played in 2 games. In 2019. And he sucked. Cunningham at least provided entertainment in the preseason. Maybe he's not that bad and we don't need to draft a QB. Or he is bad and that badness allows us to draft high enough to get a QB.

I see it this way. 10 has proven to me there is a 0% chance he can be the answer.
While Zappe and Grier hold little hope they haven’t proven its 0% yet.

Put him in the wildcat

No. It is blatantly obvious watching the film that he simply has no idea of how the passing game works, what is trying to be accomplished and how to make decisions. It’s like asking should we start a corner who runs a 5.3 40
A.J. you're killing me.

Nah I've seen enough get him aht!

We did that once with Joejuan lol. He looked decent until he was routinely burned on a go route.

What I want is to see what Grier can do, he's got two weeks to take first team reps in practice. What I think will happen is Mac will be the QB next game. I wouldn't mind seeing Cunningham, at least the game would be more exciting.

I disagree with all of this. Football is a business. Kraft is first and foremost a business man. The time for trying to win has passed. Getting a handful of more wins will do absolutely nothing towards achieving the goal Kraft, as the Pats #1 fan, wanted: making the playoffs.

Losing on the other hand, will place the team in a better position for the future: having a top 3 pick. That's a business decision.

If in fact this is BB's last season with the organization, then losing is the right decision. Not sure it matters much for the OP's poll since they've been losing a lot w/ Mac, but I would bench him and start Grier or Malik to ensure the business decision is achieved (even Mac should beat the Giants).
Many owners and many more fans have one idea of what it means to field a football team. They believe that everyone not in the playoff hunt should then move into the hunt for draft picks and tank. I get it.

There are others, including the league, the players assn, many owners and many fans who believe that there is a responsibility to try to win every game. There is a responsibility to give those paying to see the game the best product possible. To these folks, throwing a game is similar to throwing a fight. For me, it would be truly pathetic to watch the next game, knowing that both teams are trying to lose the game. Is that really what fans want? Really?

Yes, I understand not playing starters in order to rest them for the playoffs. Obviously, many don't like this either. I even understand weak teams giving their youngsters more reps to better evaluate them for the future.

my BOTTOM LINE
is simple. It is a violation of league rules and business ethics to intentionaly lose game. And, I believe that two businessmen we know disagree with you: Robert and Jonathan Kraft. Please believe that they know what is best for the value of their organization, the value of the league, and for the future of both. The patriots intentionally losing and even putting a poor product on the field is simply not acceptable.

Many media discussed out last game and the team's future in the last few days. What was clear was the embarrassment concerning the game, the worst of the week, and one of the worst of the year for any team. Kraft was embarrassment by having this in a game that Kraft has worked hard to make happen for a decade.

TO BE CLEAR
Playing to lose and expecting fans and the networks to pay to watch is NOT good business.

This guy would have put Mac on the bench for good no question about it. And given Bill another late round QB success story to add to his legacy.

Instead we draft Zappe ahead of him. Nice going coach.

To me it was the equivalent of putting in a pinch hitter, bottom of the 9th and hoping he hits a homerun. I've only seen that happen one time in my life.

Kirk Gibson?

EDIT: Hat's off to Ring6 for beating me to it!

He was certainly more highly-regarded than Zappy was, at least.
Well Washington obviously isn’t trading Howell.

But if we are looking for a stop gap QB why not Davis Mills from the Texans? CJ Stroud has emerged as their franchise QB which makes Mills expendable.

Mills has decent stats in his first two seasons. Maybe they would give him up for only a fourth?

Mills throws more picks than 10. In fact pretty much all the stats he compiled while winning 5 of 25 starts are worse than 10.

I don't really care nor follow fantasy football leagues. I also don't gamble on Draft Kings or anywhere but the Hucklebucks Casino.
