Do people REALLY think Membou, a RT, IS Better than Campbell at LT?

This is depressing. I can't remember a draft without a bona fide 1st round left tackle prospect worthy of a top 10 pick.
2019. No tackles in the top 10, no current starting left tackles, four current starting right tackles, no starting tackles outside the top 35 picks.

Dane Brugler on Jonah Williams, the first tackle picked at 11th overall: “While his college film says he can play left tackle at the next level, his lack of length will push him to guard or center on some NFL draft boards.”

Sound familiar?

It's simply a matter off circumnavigating a wider obstacle. Again I think Will Campbell is an exceptional athlete who will be able to play any line position relatively well. I just think he is better suited for guard and I don't want a guard at #4.

I said the same thing about Peter Skoronski the year before last, posters argued with me he could absolutely play OT... two years later and after the Titans tried him there... he is now a guard. He is a very good guard, but he's a guard nevertheless.
I think Skoronski is a good example of why you dont take Campbell. Skoronski has actually struggled. Especially run blocking. So when people say just "kick him inside." It's not an automatic that'll he'll be an all-pro guard.

The issues might not necessarily be recurring. The might be like Bosh from the NBA but they might not like Trey Smith. Blood clots are not completely uncommon amongst athletes.
True. I hope the doctors find the magic combo of meds that does the trick.

Our cap space is dwindling in 2026 though. We can make moves next year to clear cap space, but I am all for bringing in Tyron Smith especially if we bring in Simmons.
I went to check, 70M for 26 according to Spotrack (good for 19th)...

Im personally far from worried, but still, guys like him and Moses are 1 or 2 year stopgags anyway while we hopefully start drafting a bit better than recently

His rookie season was inconsistent, partly due to an appendectomy that caused him to miss three games. Despite these difficulties, he showed promise and was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team.

It’s also tough to distinguish his individual struggles versus the struggles of a team that is effectively a dumpster fire with terrible QB play.

Rookies/young linemen often have a learning curve.

Im not arguing either way, just so you know
Spotrac rolls over unused cap space from 2025 in their 2026 numbers, while OverTheCap does not.

Spotrac does give some hilarious results, like saying that the Pats will have $1.8 billion in cap room in 2030 if they just roll over all their currently unused space until then.

And don't forget that most likely dugger , onwenu could get cut or traded to open cap space.

Lol that is pretty funny, thanks for the info

Yah, im definitely shocked a bit by the numberb MTG brough, seems waaaay to low, but whatever

Next season is so far away still

Serena Williams had a bad case of blood clots in 2011 but ultimately made a full recovery. Football is much more violent but Barmore could have a recurrence or go the rest of his career without an issue. Either way they will need to proceed like they could lose him at any minute.
David Andrew’s had blood clots one season and came back. I guess can they somehow keep them from coming back?

He's still very much inconsistent though even last year. Above average in pass pro but he's one of the worse run blockers at his position. Sure though that line and QB situation definitely had some issues.

Save RB everyone does.

I just think he's a good example of we're looking at. Good player but certainly NOT a top 5 pick. A lot of people just think "if tackle doesn't work out just kick him inside to guard." It's not that simple and when so much is riding on it I can't imagine being comfortable making that selection.

Like I said, it could be endemic of bad scheme, coaching, team and QB play.

Rhamondre got benched for his lapses in pass blocking, nobody is immune to the learning curve except maybe transcendent talents who just get it.

I agree with the first part and like Membou a smidge better, so if they felt the desire to reach for need I’d probably take Membou.

But they should probably trade back or take another position at 4 if they can’t find a trade partner.

OTC has us about 1.5M over in 2026.

On Spotrac they are carrying over unused cap from 2025. On Spotrac if you use max cap of 279,200,000M and our total allocations of $287,642,750 put us over in 2026. I agree, I am not worried. I just wanted us to be cognizant of our financial status. Not sure why I wanted us to be cognizant given that none of us have any input. Weird on my part

At the end of the day, I 100% trust Dante, the Godfather, to help us make our OT pick. I cannot pretend to know 1/10000th of what he does about OL prospects.
