I mean... at least my binkies hang around a little while right? They contribute on the roster a little while, and on the PS and the scout team... and have helped in some capacity... they could've just been cut outright like most people's binkies!!

The thing about Harper's muff is. No but for real, nothing turns me off faster than people who act actually angry at a kid for muffing a punt. Troy Brown did it. Faulk did it. But Harper deserves to be yelled at IRL....

If they wanted him, the Patriots would've simply had him on the roster.

On WEEI, Lombardi said Belichick isn't the type to stockpile players on the Practice Squad, if he knows they can contribute to the team. Chances are, he felt that Foster and Carr weren't ready to provide NFL-caliber roster depth. Even with summer trade offers for Lewis and a chance to promote a developmental WRs to fill in for Edelman, Bill chose to hold onto Dion and trade a 3rd-string QB to obtain Dorsett instead.

I doubt he's as disappointed as we are.

Well, considering our problems at receiver...I'm sure BB wouldn't mind a 6'1-6'2 slot guy who can actually run routes...who's also healthy

Congrats to him, will get playing time there which was never happening here.

He quickly would've been next man up if Lewis, etc. was lost to injury. I always was high on Foster, very sorry to see him go.

The time to trade Lewis and promote Foster would've been right after the preseason. There were trade rumors all summer long, and according to Jeff Howe, the Pats were getting calls from other teams as recently as a week ago.

Mike Lombardi was on WEEI last week, and claimed that with regards to players who flash potential but are cut and put on waivers or the PS (e.g. Austin Carr) Belichick would simply rather have them on the 53-man roster if he wanted to keep them.

By all accounts, the Patriots weren't that dedicated to putting him on the roster this season, as per Jeff Howe's report that they did not offer to a pay raise:

Time to trade Lewis (if at all) is when they think is best for the team. Its always best if you have a moving piece to trade that is not too big of a sacrifice later in the season (just before trade deadline). Lewis-Foster (PS) combination possibly offered some of that. Now that's gone. Not much on PS RB market let alone in-kind.
