Did the Jaguars give up too much? How much would it have cost the Patriots for Hunter?

What are your thoughts on the Travis Hunter trade? I have mixed feeling on this. Hunter is just such an incredible athlete, but the price was pretty high. It is a gamble and you hate to put so much on one player. Cleveland or the Jaguars may regret this for years to come....or maybe it is a fair trade.

I think that the price would have been too steep even for the Patriots since their problems cannot be fixed with a single player.

They had to have Hunter.

As a WR for Lawrence. Assuming Hunter is a beast like Jmar Chase, Lawrence has to sink or swim.

OT was always the greatest need and the Pat's were in a position to take the best on the board.

You fix the 31st offense via run and pass game.

I'm sorry for Hunter, Jaguars is a franchise that doesn't make any sense, should move to a different city.

It would be better to go to Cleveland and that's saying something.

Ignoring the sweeteners, hey basically traded Travis Hunter for Mason Graham, tonight's #4 (#36 overall) and Jax's #1 next year (which could very easily be a top 10 pick).

I think they made a very good trade, unusual for Cleveland.

They gave up QB compensation for a non-QB.

They already have a solid #1 WR. So there is a chance that Hunter becomes a primary CB and part time WR which diminishes his value.

There has only been one player who successfully started both sides of the ball at the same time in Deion Sanders. But Sanders only did that eight times in his entire career. And he only played both ways for several years in his career.

And don't forget that Deion notorious for not being willing to tackle in the open field. If a RB came running at him, he would do a half hearted attempt to slow him down at best. That preserved his body. Unless Hunter does that, his body will wear down a heck of a lot faster.

Drafting Hunter with the second pick is a home run. Giving up as much as the Jags did is a huge risk especially for a team with a lot of needs.

Cleveland also got the Jags fourth rounder tomorrow and gave up a sixth rounder tomorrow.

Way too much. Unless he really does become shohei ohtani and doing both positions at a very high level, they’re too flawed of a team to give up that much for a prospect, as much as i wanted hunter.

Right, Cleveland made out very well in this. They will find a way to **** it up from here though (graham was a great pick but we’ll see about the rest )

I feel like they did a good job of stacking picks in the later 2010s too if my memory serves right and then were on their way with garrett and mayfield, but Cleveland

For this to make sense he needs to be Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase,….an all pro WR. We’ll see if he can make that impact.

It is just the Khan family doing Khan family stuff.

These people are morons when it comes to operating sport franchises/properties.

If he's an all pro at one position or a reasonably high end player at both sides of the ball then I think it will be good value. I would not have placed such a big bet on that over just taking multiple players with those picks though.

I believe that WR makes the most sense for Hunter in a league driven by passing. The Jags can dictate Hunters value on offense via the number of targets his way. The number of snaps.

The Falcons spared Jax a lot of scrutiny with their mind-boggling trade.

It was an incredibly stupid trade by Jacksonville.
They're in a tough spot. Interest in that team in that city and that region is bad to begin with, with most people attending games usually going to see their team play and not the Jaguars. They needed to do something to excite the fans and get people to buy tickets and fill that stadium, and I'm sure that played a role in that decision.
