Did the Conclave elect Josh McDaniels the new Pope?

Re: Did the enclave elect Josh McDaniels the new Pope?

I'm not sure what the issue is here. If he said that about Belichick or Kraft would this even be a thread?

Fixed. Sorry.

The previous poster asked if this was an issue, I think it is. First, Bedard is a reporter/analyst for the Globe, WEEI and other outlets. His job is not to blindly "be on board" with the professional franchise he's paid to cover. Second, Josh gets too cute for his own good fairly frequently when the Patriots should stick with what is obviously working.

The best drive of the year was that 7+ minute drive to end the Miami game where the Pats just ran the ball down their throats. That sort of approach is what the Pats needed more in the Ravens game instead of putting so much on Brady who was pressured all day, and some of the trick plays that didn't work.

Why not? His "analysis" has shown that he trusts McDaniels.

Yea, that's easy if the opposing team is allowing you to rush like that, which the Ravens weren't.

I'm not a gigantic fan of the guy but the McDaniels criticisms are way overblown.

Funny.

A week ago in the same space, Bedard pointed to all the "Josh McDaniels guys" the team imported. The list included Brandon Lloyd, Daniel Fells, Spencer Larsen, a couple others. Didn't read much like a list of "Parcells guys" that he could attract.

This week tended more toward immortality.

The run wasn't working.
Brady was not under pressure.
Interesting that your plan in a Champ Game is to take the ball out of Bradys hands.
Of course while you cite one drive where running worked we had dozens where throwing worked. Not sure how one scoring drive is 'more best' than another one.

Lloyd produced as expected. The rest of the guys were end of the roster guys who played like end of the roster guys. Should we expect more than that?

The pass/rush ratio was almost 2 to 1 (54 passes, 28 running plays.) The Patriots were at their best against good teams with a more balanced attack.

Brady was hit 7 times, intercepted twice and had a passer rating of 45.1. The passing game didn't work either.

Getting more production out of the running game when you run 82 offensive plays doesn't equal "taking the ball out of Brady's hands." It means you keep the defense honest and keep Flacco off the field and rest the defense.

The only rushing turnover was on the concussion to Ridley who I pray is okay. That hit still bothers me. Anyway, I think the 2nd half goes better if the Patriots ran more and kept the linebackers up in run defense.

McDaniels has been to the Conclave twice.
Once as Cardinal and the the other as a Bishop assistant to the Cardinal. He received 14 and 17 votes, respectively.

Id est quod est

McDaniels est peditibus

Bedard's not really the kind of guy to write about something out of nowhere. I don't know what'd it be, but I feel like there was some kind of conversation behind the scenes that led to this.

To put things in the terms he'd use, I feel like he didn't throw a dart that ended up on the "support McDaniels" part of the dartboard.
