I've checked all of the Sports Bars, my hotel does not have a fast enough Wifi connection to watch online. Is there anyone on the forum that is in Yangon and will be watching live tonight? Any tips/help appreciated.

On the plus side, the last time I was in Yangon during a Patriots playoff game the Pats beat Peyton 24-14 in the 2003-2004 divisional round.

The game is on at the embassy but they won't let me watch at that time. Watched the superbowl last year in the Singapore embassy.

The game is on TV here, on American Sports Network. the problem is only sports bars and private homes get it and sports bars are not open late Sunday/early Monday.

If in fact I can't watch it live I'll watch it at 50th Street Bar on Monday night.

C'mon TigerJohn.........you MUST give us the background to your story over there.

Myanmar is one very (until a couple of years ago) isolated (and beautiful) place. You watch Pats games at different embassies? Are you James Bond? It's been a big snowstorm day here on the East Coast of the US and some of us are a bit stir crazy. Throw us a bone.

It was actually easier to watch NFL games way back in 2001/2002 when they were all on ESPN Asia. I watched the Raiders game in Nan, Thailand, the Steelers in Mae Hong Sohn up near Chiang Mai (and was forced to get a 7-11 employee to close the shop at 4:30am to take me back to my hotel on motorcycle to avoid the roaming packs of dogs in the streets), and superbowl XXXVI on the beach in Krabi after I paid the porter $20 to open the bar at 6am.

Then there was the 24-14 game over the Colts in 2003/2004 which I watched here in Yangon. Every other playoff game was in the US except for 2007 and 2011 superbowls which were in Singapore. I decided I needed to get to US soil for the game last year thinking the embassy might count and apparently it worked. I've already lined up a spot at the Singapore embassy if we win today.

These days in SE Asia the NFL is on select sports channels on the most expensive tiers of local cable and satellite packages (ESPN just carries soccer) and it's harder to watch except for the superbowl. The NFL game pass is a good product but problem this time is that the internet is not fast enough.

can you find someplace with better wifi? if not maybe the espn gamecast will suffice? need to invest in some good Scotch and cultivate embassy staff connections!

I asked my friend in the Singapore embassy if he could get me in through his friends in Yangon but the security at the embassy in Yangon does not allow it at that time of day.

As nice as it is at times there is no place I'd rather be than in a bar surrounded by Patriots fans. Got a chance to do that in Portland, OR last week and it was great. Check out Yur's if you are in town on gameday.

Don't think this will help you this year but Taipei Taiwan has excellent sport bars to watch games especially during the playoffs. Next time I would recommend if possible to take a quick flight over to Taipei and watch the games there. Even if the bars do not show the games the internet connection is decent in the major hotels.

Hong Kong might be good as well but I've never watched a playoff game over there although the internet connection etc.. seemed to be decent in the Kowloon region. Gold Coast hotel to be specific.

Unfortunately, Myanmar is about the only country in Asia where the internet is too slow aside from East Timor. I go to places like Laos and Cambodia a lot during the season and I never have any problems.

I'm in Bangkok on vacation and was able to watch last week's game and will be watching tomorrow's game via NFL website using 4G mobile. I bought a sim card with 5GB Internet at the local 7-11. I believe they offer the same in Myanmar.

Might be an option. Would not be surprised if the mobile data is ahead of the internet speed. Will look into it.

Mobile data is pretty fast. It's plenty to stream the game.
