Deltha O'Neal's attempt at jamming WR

Re: Deltha Jamming WR

I was gonna say that Deltha is too busy being toasted right off the bat to jam the WR. But then again, I didn't know where you were going with the thread either.

Re: Deltha Jamming WR

What a misleading thread title. I said this yesterday. Is O'Neal the first CB ever to play press coverage and never jam the receiver at the line of scrimmage? The guy consistently got faked out on the first move yesterday. Hence why Roethlisberger picked on him so much.

Re: Deltha Jamming WR

yah i remember watching that when it happened, it was a pretty bad attempt at a jam...you know our pass D is going to suck if he is our #2 CB

Our pass D sucks primarily because of the utter lack of a pass rush. When our pass rush has been on par this season, we have SHUT DOWN offenses (take the Denver game for example). When the pass rush was non existant, we got picked apart. Still though, O'Neal sucks. There is a good reason why the BENGALS of all teams let him walk.

Thanks. I was only kidding... sorta.

I guess I didn't focus in on Hobbs, but did they let him press coverage as much as O'Neal? I think Hobbs is actually better at press coverage than he is at zone coverage. If they left Hobbs off the ball 120 yards like they usually do and made O'Neal do press coverage all day, I gotta question the coaching staff.

I saw at least three times where O'Neal played on the line and didn't even brush against the receiver he was covering. That is inexcusable.

BB was asked that after the chargers game and basically said the secondary's job is not to rely on the pass rush and allow runners go free or run by them , they still have to cover.
I agree our pass rush is bad but we also see DB's chasing WR's which isnt very good.
I think pats might do some significant changes upfront like play a 4-3 more to generate passrush. With AD out jarvis is better than the back LB's at pass rush. But again, BB doesnt sway from principles so remains to be seen.

I just hope people will remember plays like that the next time they start complaining about Pees not doing enough bump and run coverage.

Well, you obviously can't do it with O'Neal as one of the CBs.

I think pats might do some significant changes upfront like play a 4-3 more to generate passrush. With AD out jarvis is better than the back LB's at pass rush. But again, BB doesnt sway from principles so remains to be seen.

A 4-3 with the personnel we have would be disasterous, IMO. Oh and CBs can't chase NFL calibur WRs around for 10 seconds. It's next to impossible. What BB said is correct though. No secondary's job should rely on a pass rush. But a pass rush IS very important, if not the MOST important key to stopping the pass.

its kinda funny in its own way ..

Holy crap did he ever get toasted on that play.
Damn, was that lame.
No wonder we get toasted on third and long all the time.

Oh and thanks for posting that, SVN.

funny? that was downright embarrasing....how much are they paying him? ill cover better for half the price

Out of 64 starting CBs in week 1, would you rank Deltha in the 55-64th tier? I can't help but think anyone cut by the worst franchise in the league is pretty horrible. Also, I was at the SF game where he got schooled a few times even on plays the WR didn't get the ball so I don't know if a lot of people ever saw it.

Not sure, but Hobbs was on the injury report with a bad shoulder all week. Perhaps this prevented the staff from using Hobbs in press coverage?

Re: Deltha Jamming WR

That is so amazingly depressing.

I never thought I'd be eager to see the 10 yard cushions return.

Trying to decide which is uglier this or Seau's senior moment last year against Baltimore.

haha... this is pathetic. Bring back Earthwind or Poteat.

A 4-3 would make the Patriots a worse pass rushing team, period. I don't know why people continue to bring that up.

Re: Deltha Jamming WR

Patriots got caught with their post-Asante pants down, and Deltha became the loincloth! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
