Cam can only throw 10-15 yard bullet passes. At some point it's also OC idiocy to not call plays that maximize this. The anticipation is just different , Mac can throw with touch and anticipation. But you can't put it all on Cam, have to maximize what your players can do and the OC can't keep being clueless about the best plays your players can execute. And it also doesn't mean pigeon-holing your QB into red zone runs only. The lack of play action with Cam in the red zone is criminal and idiocy.

This is as stupid as stupid gets, now it’s MacDaniels job to create plays to match Newton’s horrendous mechanics. Here’s an idea, MacDaniels should have six receiver sets where 3 receivers carry the other three on their shoulders so they can reach his 10 foot overthrows. Or MacDaniels should tell Belichick to release his entire receiving corps and replace them with NBA centers. But really MacDaniels best bet is to tell Belichick to replace all the receivers with OL posing as tight ends and never call another passing play, just have Newton run on every down all season long. So many benefits to having Cam Newton start at quarterback, if only Josh MacDaniels could figure out how to use a QB who is incapable of throwing sn accurate pass. And when Newton sucks just remember, it’s Josh MacDaniels fault.

It really looks like he's throwing/aiming a javelin and there doesn't seem to be much timing involved with his passes. It's like he's watching and waiting for guys to break off their routes THEN heaves it vs. Mac quickly throwing to where the receiver is supposed to be.

In all my time watching football I have never seen a QB with worse mechanics. How the hell any team he has played for has ever won is beyond me, he’s atrocious.

Tim Tebow had worse mechanics. My sense with Cam is he always has been kind of an undisciplined sandlot-style player, REACTING to what a defense is doing and relying on raw physical skill vs. DICTATING the offense's will.

Cams mechanics are not good to watch but he has been better so far. More accurate and efficient. I think he starts week 1. Macs stats were good against the giants but he also held onto the ball for far too long and was sacked 4 times in 2 quarters.

Thanks for the analysis @reamer....I'm liking what I'm seeing of Mac so far. He has a long way to go to be compared to Tom, but so far so good.
