Your response is exactly what I would expect. No substance at all.
You claim that the defense has been bad since SB 53 which was in 2018...oh ok. Then please explain how in 2019 they were ranked #1 overall and they had 25 INT's that year.
“Bad since SB53”… strawman much? Read my post again.
That 2019 D’s ranking was a product of a very easy first half schedule and nothing more. When they faced good teams it all fell apart. How did that “#1” defense look against the Ravens? Texans? Ryan Fitzpatrick’s Dolphins late in the season ? That’s the game where Devante Parker of all people took Gilmore to school. How about Derrick Henry in the playoff game? That’s what I thought.
I am not exactly sure where that ranks but I am sure it is pretty high. In 2020, Cam's year, the defense was ranked #7 overall.
And 15th in yards. Like I said before points allowed is a product of schedule. Look at how they do against good teams. They got smoked. Also couldn’t stop the run that year.
In 2021 they gave up the second fewest points.
Once again warriors against bad offenses weaklings against good. You don’t want me to mention that historic playoff ass kicking so I won’t. How they do against the Colts and J Taylor? Titans when they gave up almost 300 yards rushing? Cowboys when they gave up 20 yards on third down to put Dallas in a game tying FG range with little time left? Dolphins in the regular season finale giving up almost 200 rushing? Josh Allen and the Bills in the second regular season game at Gillette?
Only the most uninformed of uninformed fans only look at points and ignore everything else to see how good a defense is. It’s a lot more than that. They haven’t been a truly elite defense that can stop a top offense since SB53 like I said.
This year so far they are 20th overall.
This means that Mayo has made the defense worse than any previous years.
Yes they are worse. No question. Now they can’t beat bad teams either. But let’s not pretend Bill was this defensive wizard in recent years that always made his defense awesome every year. No they weren’t.
Last year, in games that we got blown out, Mac threw 2 pick 6's and two fumbles lost in a 38-3 loss to Dallas. You blame the defenses, but how are they supposed to even stay competitive if the QB does that ?
Ok so Jones throws 2 ints and Dallas has the ball in NE territory anyway, who says they won’t score? And even if they don’t - 24-3 is a close game?
I love the logic that we can’t give Brady credit for carrying a team but we can blame the QB for everything that ails the team. Too funny
You keep pointing to a 47-17 loss, in that game Mac threw 2 picks and lost a fumble and nearly every time the defense was then starting on a very short field so there were no punts .
Wrong. Their drives were 70, 80, 81, 89, 58, 77 and 39 yards, the last one set up by a long punt return by Micah Hyde.
Literally a defensive embarrassment for the ages. No team had ever allowed a team to score a TD on every single drive they had in the playoffs. Shocking really that a BB team would be that unprepared. It was Pats weather too… the type of freezing cold game we’d all salivate over in the good old days.
So yes, I do blame Mac for that game as once a QB starts giving the game away the rest of the team do not put up much of a fight.
That’s nonsense. I’d expect flailing around like that from Wozzy but you’re smarter than that.
And if that was true (it’s not but for arguments sake), say the defense just gives up once they see the QB struggle… that’s the kind of total coaching failure that would get coaches fired. You really want to make that argument?
Now, I want to see you answer all these facts that I have pointed out and tell me once again how Bill's defenses were terrible since the end of 2018!!!
I’m afraid those facts aren’t what you think they are.
Truly great defenses can get clutch stops and stop good offenses. This Pats defense for whatever reason hasn’t since that SB. Hopefully they will get back to that point someday soon.
