Content Post Dear Bill - Thanks for Giving Away the Super Bowl.

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

As long as we're doing alternative histories, on one of the 3rd down plays leading to a Philly field goal, Butler once again goes for the INT without backup (like he had many times this season) and his man catches the ball and gets a long gainer, scoring or setting up a TD instead of the FG that Philly got without him.
My word, the defense was the reason we lost this game. We needed every bit of help we could get and our Pro Bowl corner who led the team in snaps was on the bench for the whole game while we got roasted left and right.

Brady needed one single stop to win this game. To sit there and say that Butler playing wouldn’t help the team is asinine.

It was as low as you can go for a guy that won you a super bowl. Listen butler's not an angel and he screwed up whateva he did but it's the damn super bowl! He could have also sat him the first half and brung him in the second half of the game.

Once again, they gave him trust and faith and he blew it, that’s Butler’s fault.

or he gets the INT

or he breaks up a play that forces the eagles to punt in the 2nd half.......a bit more realistic.....just needed one stop......and the making a stop business was slow

Lmao

I haven’t been doing it and I am getting dozens and dozens with no reply.

Maybe you should go have a good cry about it.
You’re so brave.

We will tell stories for a millennia on how you braved the storm of red X’s for the betterment of society.

I gave the initial post a Winner rating because Belichick is accountable for his decision, which on it's face looks stupid. If he has information he wants to provide that gives additional context and makes the decision look rational, I'm willing to change my mind. But it's on him at this point.

Let’s try this again, since people can’t understand it.

MALCOLM BUTLER SAID “THEY LOST FAITH IN ME”

When you lose the trust and faith someone has put in you it’s your fault, not theirs. For some reason many here want to excuse Butler and blame the coaches for his breach of trust. That’s completely f.cked up.

they didn't really lose faith in him.....which is why he dressed

Here's just the reality....

Let's grant everyone defending Belichick the benefit of the doubt. Let's say it was weed (if I was a player I'd want to kill Belichick if he benched him for that, by I digress) he stayed up late, he was late for team meetings, missed a flight. Let's say it was ALL true. Let's then grant (I don't) that he was completely 100% justified in not playing Butler. Let's give all of that to Belichick.

He lost any ground he had by still dressing him that day and using the roster spot on him. So you don't think he should play, but you don't have the balls to say "no your not coming to the stadium, go back home, we don't want you"? What because he wasn't good enough to play but he was good enough to have on the sideline in case an emergency happened or your plan backfired (it did backfire and you still didn't go to him which is even more egregious).

You didn't have the balls to let him know he wasn't playing until before the national anthem and didn't tell the person who was replacing him until after it that he would be the new starter? Why because you didn't want everyone (rightfully) questioning your decision. You put everyone on the spot right before the game? And then when your gameplan fell apart you still refused to play him?

Even if I give him every benefit of the doubt on this, he did it in the most cowardly and negative way possible that it makes him look like he knew he was doing something that was going to be received poorly and he hid it until the last minute and he didn't have the courage of his convictions to tell Butler to just go home.

I think even in pure football terms, even you have to agree that faith in butler if it was 1 on a scale of 100, they couldnt have 10 on a scale of 100 for jordan richards. In the biggest game of the season. They should've just made him inactive and play alan branch. Who knows we might have gotten some pressure on foles. Deciding this right before kickoff that suddenly I dont have faith in you or let me inform you before kickoff that I dont have faith in you seems weird. Just my opinion. Unless something happened between when inactives were announced and the game started .And if it was that egregious , BB shouldnt have let him on the sideline.

If the coaches lose faith and trust that a player won’t do what they are asked to do then that is completely on the player. Trust is earned, and playing time isn’t an entitlement.

Tomlin should have benched Bell, and had he Steeler fans would have blamed Tomlin for the loss to Jacksonville, when in truth it would have been Bell’s fault. Patriot fans are doing the same thing here.

BB was right on one thing after the game. He said blame me. Blame my coaching mistakes. Etc.

Seriously. I’m on the verge of reporting it. It’s a clear abuse of the purpose of the buttons below.
Go for it. If your sense of self-worth is so fragile that a little icon of a "thumbs-down" rocks your world, please do what you need to do. I wouldn't want to be responsible for you having a breakdown or anything like that.

Will you also be reporting the people who give you little "like", "agree", and "winner" icons without saying why? Hmmm -- I guess validation without discussion is A-OK. Hypocritical much?

his job was to win the game........he did not do his job

The great irony is the people people defending him are the one's saying "we don't know" and then extrapolating negative things about Butler to justify Belichick's decision.

When the person they are defending is saying "we did what we thought was best for the team".

Not really. Why dress him? BB's power trip was in full effect. Well it cost him a super bowl.

now I know why facebook doesn't have a dislike button

Strong man. This is a community of Patriots fans discussing a tough loss. Key word: discussing.

Hiding behind a little button and trolling dozens of posts is pathetic and displays insecurity. Give it a rest, the act is old.

That was the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. What's best for the team. I have no doubts some players where saying WTF's going on here when butler wasn't starting.

It really does say something when Donte Hightower 'likes' a post by Brandon Browner criticizing BB for benching Butler.

True but kind of a dubious honor, wouldn't you say?

yes.........what makes things worse, though, is the he legitimately could have made a difference
