From what I am have read there was a melee at the club near closing time, about 1:00 am. Rather than head home Meriweather then went to a house party. I would say that decision could be considered poor judgement. So, now it's poor judgement to hang out with family? Seriously?
Sorry, but the only poor judgement was shown by the imbecile who drew the gun and ended up shooting his buddy.
When you add in the (alleged) fact that the fight involved one of Meriweather's cousins getting into a physical confrontation with a woman, you could also consider (a) the type of people he is choosing to spend his time with, and (b) his not considering that the situation was not finished.
I don't know if the cousin hit the woman, pushed her, or what, but it is apparent there was some kind of physical contact between the two that started the whole incident. A person in Meriweather's position would be better off walking away and distancing himself from the situation. He didn't, which is why I commented that it seemed like there was poor judgement by Meriweather in the situation.
It's not like he was at an afternoon cookout with his extended family. There were warning signs that warranted a "nothing good happens at 2:00 a.m." type of consideration. After the fight at the club he should have chosen to go home rather than continue to party.
