David Andrews hospitalized for blood clots (merged)

Wasn’t Shaq Mason projected by some to be a center in the draft process? Could he be a candidate to slide over?

Why create more holes and reduce continuity than necessary ?

The odd year injuries have started early.... (2013, 2015, 2017)

Get well soon

This is the 2nd player in 3 years the Pats have had that developed blood clots in his lungs.. The first was Anthony Garcia, their 3rd round pick in 2017. He was claimed by the Jets and then waived.. Signed by the Colts and has since been suspended for 4 games for violating the substance abuse policy..

If Shaq is more mentally prepared to make the line calls a center would make than Karras.

Nfl network confirming blood clot in lungs for Andrews.

Says who ?

Karras — among other things — is the backup center. He should at least be as prepared if not better than Mason who doesnt have the backup responsibility.

Our only (somewhat) reliably capable backup OL just became a starter.
Question is whether the consider croston capable of backing up everyone.
I think we will be signing 2 veterans that get cut and probably 2 more rookies cut by other teams to the practice squad.
OL health is concern #1.

It was suggested, but as I recall it was mostly a "he's too small to be a guard" projection. AFAIK Mason has no experience at center.

Wishing him the best with a good recovery. Is one of our best players

Why do people find this "funny"?

In the absence of info to the contrary I'm thinking a compulsive need to trigger and/or general douchebaggery.

Let's hope Andrews makes a fast and full recovery, football is secondary at this point

Not good. Wishes for a speedy recovery.

Not good. Andrews is the definition of a patriot player. A guy that just consistently does his job, and does it very very well. Wishing nothing but the best and a speedy recovery for bear.

Sad news for the young man. Get well soon.
Is this something that could end his career?

Andrews missed time at the beginning of camp for unspecified reasons.

Wonder if this was related.

Hope all will be well with Andrews. Great player on the field & leader off it.

Regarding Ted Karras on the field, take or leave it but here's PFF:

2017: 9th highest graded center on 151 snaps (14th pass block, 8th run block). Andrews was 4th.
2018: 8th highest rated guard on 171 snaps (26th pass block, 6th run block).

He's ideally what you want in a backup. A young player with upside & starting experience.
