Cyrus Jones re-signed off Raven’s PS

I'm not going to claim that he's a guy you can use to clamp anyone down 1-on-1, but that's not what a #2 outside corner usually does. We have Gilmore for that, so safety help can roll to Rowe's side. I'm not ready to say he's useless after a bad game giving up contested catches. And if anyone blames him for the ridiculous Cole catch, I'll never agree with that.

As for this part:

That's just you projecting your own feelings onto the coaching staff. Players get benched during games when they don't have it on that day all the time. Coaches loved Arrington, but he got benched for Butler in SB49 because he went cold. You can't assume that because he got sat down in the midst of a terrible defensive game (across the whole team), that suddenly the coaches don't like him anymore. Hell, BRADY got sat down in the Chiefs game in 2014. It happens.

Lets just agree to disagree right now I would rather Jonathan Jones on the Outsides instead of Rowe. If Rowe is Inactive Sunday Night that should tell how the Coaching Staff really feels.

Fair enough. I don't disagree on Jones in general, I think he's our 2nd best corner overall. But when there's a 3 corner set, Jones seems better suited for the middle of the field than Rowe, so it's better to have Rowe on the outside IMO. I would be SHOCKED if Rowe is inactive Sunday night (barring a practice injury), but feel free to drag this up if it happens and I'll do a mea culpa.

I am not into the I told you so man not in that business I want every Patriots to do well but Rowe's struggles might be habitual.

Great Stuff!!!!!! Since Cyrus Jones was drafted in 2016, the Patriots never made playoff without him. That shows how important he is to this team! Playoff here we come

WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mentioned in other threads about signing CJ off the Ravens practice squad. Now it's come true and I can't wait until Sunday to see how he works out. I make no secret of my love of Alabama football, and hoping New England can get some more in the future. We lucked out getting Hightower, but the big problem is that Alabama puts out some very good players, and they get snapped up early in the draft.

So now I can again break out my autographed Cyrus Jones jersey and wear it on Sunday.

Cyrus has decent size for a CB he should be better than he's shown so far. We cannot get any worse than Rowe. I think Cyrus's carer is going to be resurrected. I may be in the minority but I love this move: Rowe might be keeping the Bench warm for Edelman. At this point Rowe is just bad.

Rowe can stay with receivers in man. He just can't time his jump or make any plays on the ball. Even when he looks for it, his reflexes/instincts are too slow to make a play. If ever there was a guy who weened coaching it's Rowe. How about it, Josh?

Somebody float a rumor that he stole all of Harbaugh's plays.

Harbaugh's Playbook:

1) Joe Flacco throws rainbow down right sideline
2) Joe Flacco throws rainbow down left sideline
3) Ray Lewis kills a guy
4) Ray Rice knocks out fiancee
5) Complain to Roger Goodell to get rules changed

If he was any good the Ravens would have promoted him. He did look good returning punts this pre-season, before that he did not look good. I guess if we are plugging gaps, using 1st and 2nd round talent adds athleticism. My mother always told me to say something positive or nothing at all.

He was drafted as a PR / physical press corner. He is just about the same size at Devin McCourty, he isn't tall but he is thick and strong. IMHO, he has the size, toughness, tackling ability, and strength to be a long term free safety here, it should be noted that Chung is hurt and both Chung and McCourty are 31 now, no spring chickens for DBs. Before the board blows up, although he has the toughness and size for a free safety, it is completely unknown if he has the right instincts to be a safety (he hasn't appeared to score too high in the "instincts" category in his Patriot tenure so far), at best he would probably be a long term project. Anyway, I wonder if it is a coincidence he was signed just as Chung got hurt.

I remember last year watching Nick Stevens’s Patshow. Probably after the Panthers or Bucks game, the other guy said something like, if Cyrus Jones was here maybe he could have done so and so, and Nick covered his face and wailed: “Things are going so bad we are pining for Cyrus Jones!”

And here we are again!
