I am not ready to get rid of him but so far he is a big time bust. I definitely don't want him on 1 vs 1 coverage down the sideline either. I don't really like much of anything that Cyrus brings to the table.
send him to the locker room and cut him! He sucks!!!!
Please don't let him return punts in Denver
Agreed. No need to personally insult the man, it's clear he's ****ting his pants out there and doing stupid things as a result, it's on Bill now.
Because these are rookie mistakes he is making. He allowed one catch on defense. That's not mediocre. And, at the very least, you need the depth at the position.I think he failed to block on the Slater fumble as well. He is monumentally bad as a returner. Can't catch the ball, can't execute a fair catch and doesn't even know to get away from a bouncing punt. Mediocre as a defender. Why keep him on the roster at this point?
Half the forum was ready to kick Gostowski to the curb after a few missed FGs this year despite 10 years of being a top tier kicker. That Cyrus F'n Jones is getting any wiggle room from anyone - much less from BB to still play ST - is outrageous.

Pick 6 in preseason and looking somewhat useful in coverage.Kevin Faulk showed something as a rookie, what has he shown?
You would know...He's garbage
And the worst part is, he's DUMB...
Maybe, he'll become a good defender, but he may be another overrated player from Alabama who looks good because every other Alabama player is NFL caliber especially on defense.I also wouldn't cut Jones. He was a good CB in college and may still have use as a backup. Just keep him off the field for any punts or kickoffs. Get Whalen active and see what he can do.
If there are actually people who are seriously pounding the table for him to be cut right now, they are obviously just casual fans who don't really understand the ins and outs of the game. What is the point of cutting him now ? What do you gain from that ?
He's another one who excels at his craft, but doesn't really belong touching the ball or seeing targets. Harsh, I know, but there's some truth in there somewhere. In fact I hope someone asks Slater why the **** he decided to not run through that giant gap that was to the side but instead decided to run fullspeed into a wall of people..
Slater is not a returner and really should not be back there fielding kicks either, but in every other area of special teams Slater is Pro Bowl caliber. Look, it's probably an exaggeration to cut him, but he is as bad as I've ever seen back there in terms of making decisions and on the physical side in terms of just holding onto the ball. I've, generally thought to cut him some slack, but this is a Super Bowl caliber team. He does not look capable of even helping them get there. If there is some one out there who can help them win now I'd cut him in a heart beat. And he was also responsible for the Brady INT, right ?
You don't need to over-exaggerate his mistakes by making him responsible for the Slater fumble. In fact I hope someone asks Slater why the **** he decided to not run through that giant gap that was to the side but instead decided to run fullspeed into a wall of people..
Well, then a preseason pick 6. Make him a starter.Pick 6 in preseason and looking somewhat useful in coverage.
BB compared him to Assante Samuel
