Curran: Patriots will be "extremely and uncharacteristically" aggressive in Free Agency

Mariota is a talented guy athletically but my concern with him is, and always has been, I’d that he is far too mild tempered and simply doesn’t seem to have the killer instinct that I want from a QB, or from most positions for that matter.

his game strikes me as cam newton from last year except he has an arm. He might be a decent bridge guy with some upside though. Can Josh/Bill fix him? he hasn't been very good since 2016 when he threw 26tds

Harris is a weird one. He had a good 2019, admitted he was chasing the money last offseason, and then ended up back in Denver for cheap. I'm not sure what would have changed in the past year to make a team offer him more money.
Yep, but for that kind of money i think he could be a nice addition if we don't resign our guys upfront. Could provide us some nice interior pressure.
The only red flag I see is that he was kicked off two teams in college in 2009 and 2013.
Yeah i hope he matured over his NFL Carreer but idk

I think the talent deficit + ton of cap space kind of dictates they will do a lot in FA

And yeah, Mariota has value as a good backup/cheap reclamation project, but shouldn't be overhyped as much beyond that. He can run and throw and is a good guy in the locker room but has never 100% put it all together as a QB at the pro level.

In your opinion, what is a lot?

Is it a bunch of non-name-diamond-in-the-rough types or spend a ****load of money on Tier 1 FAs?

Quality over Quantity or vice-versa?

“Let’s go!” Go...where? Interesting...sounds like he couldn’t be more thrilled to “go” by the sounds of it. Godwin to NE confirmed IMO

Probably a mix based on what they did in 2014. But that’s just a guess.

My best guess (and of course, that's all any of this is) is that this becomes like 2000 and 2001. Lots of surprise cuts are coming. Lots of low to mid level free agent signings and lots of rookies.

I guess we know what the hell this means now, huh?

Damn, Brady winning the Super Bowl really did get under Bill’s skin!

So you think if Brady didn’t win the Sb belichick would have not spent the cap money he finally had the opportunity to use?

I was expecting to spend a lot, but wasn’t expecting all this

Well said.

Bill could give two ****s of Tom winning the SB.

The man had 70m burning his pocket and he was pissed his team sucked.
I think he was at peace with his team sucking last year because deep down he knew it was an uphill battle. The 19 team
was flawed and he had no money to fix the problems with even without paying Brady.
Everything he is doing today is everything he would gave done a year ago if he had the resources.
He didn’t not know there were issues, he just couldn’t do much about it.
Now he needs to fix the damn QBs spot.

Just a question, but you all who are surprised Bill spend this much money, what were you thinking he was going to do with it? Maybe not expecting so much of it today, but you gotta spend it.

If I had to guess, I think the game that most pissed off BB last year was getting pushed around by SF. he wants to build a power team...they looked very Pop Warner in that game.

He needed some beef and talent.

He pretty much said exactly this, but everyone pushed it off as "excuse making."
