Could somebody please explain the Carrington love?

Carrington doesn't fit. Woods from LSU does..Odrick.. name the last penn state defensive player who has done anything in the past decade..

Sorry so grumpy.

Why wouldnt Carrington fit? throw 20lbs on him and he's a physical dead ringer for Seymour.

OK, let me try to explain.

Two girls are walking down the street laughing and talking. Two guys are standing on the corner studying and checking the girls out. The guys have not talked to the girls and don't know much about them.

Guy #1 rates girl #2 as 9.1 and girl #1 as 4.6. Guy #2 rates girl #1 as 8.5 and girl #2 as 6.8.

This is pretty much what draftniks and draft guru's do. It's fun, but it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Hope this helps explain it.
So your wife locking you in the shed to keep you from looking at girls means you rate the 4.6 girls as 9.1?

I would not describe him as lanky, he's got plenty of muscle on him and can kick butt, that's the reason for the love.

Also, his arms are 33 1/4 inches long, I wouldn't call that ultra-short either. If he were to play as a defensive end in Seymour's position he doesn't need great agility, he just needs explosive power to beat up the O-line, which he did quite well at the Senior bowl...

I wouldn't consider 285 lanky, either. Jarvis Green prob. weighed less than that when he was drafted in 2002.

As for his 33-1/4" arms, they're the same as Vollmer's, and SeaBass is 2-3 " taller.

Carrington is closer to an early/mid - mid 3rd-round talent than he is to a 2nd-rounder, but because Bill threw away his 3rd & 5th-rounders, he would have to use #53 in order to secure Carrington's services. That's obviously much too early for Uncle Heatster's taste, just as Arthur Jones, Austen Lane, Lamarr Houston & CJ Wilson are just a bit too early for mine.

And I don't feel that Carrington is a poor fit here at 3-4 DE; Corey Wootton, OTOH, is a terrible fit here, both at DE & OLB. And as I mentioned in another thread, Al Woods doesn't have the intangibles of a 2nd/3rd-round value, either.

What about Tyson Alualu in the 2nd round?

I like Aluala a lot but I'm not sure what we'd do with him unless we went to a 4-3, he really doesn't seem like a 3-4 DE, much more like a 4-3 DT.

I haven't seen a lot of Carrington but he reminds me of Aaron Smith of the Steelers which is why I could see us taking him in the late second or trading down and if he is around in the early third. Nobody would describe Smith as being Seymour but he's been a pretty damn solid player for a long time. He doesn't blow you away in any one area but is a rock against the run and gives you pressure by simply pushing the pocket. He'll give you 4 or 5 sacks per year but will constantly be in the mix with good effort. He just seems like the type of unspectacular workman the Pats would draft. He also has the length the Pats like.
