Dante has been with the Pats for so long and is such a great coach. His impact is praised. Not sure if he ever got any attention as potential HC or not, but I surely would think he could have.

Is it possible that being the OC here for 4 decades is a possibility for a coach like McDaniels? I mean the Steelers had **** LeBeau right?

Anyway the thought crossed my mind today. Say Belichick coaches until 75 or something, and is not necessarily replaced by McDaniels. Could McDaniels and the offensive systems stay in place for decades similar to Dante?

I think Scar is one of those positional coaches who are the exception to the rule. McDaniels won't be an OC forever (like Crennel basically)

He already failed as a HC in another team's system...he is in his comfort zone here...I believe as long as he is compensated fairly , he may just wait for BB or TB to retire.......JMHO

Only jobs I could see Josh taking if ever offered.
Atlanta Pittsburgh Minnesota otherwise I think New England is his home.

LeBeau was a head coach for the Bungals for 3 seasons, just not a very successful one. 4 wins a year doesn't get it done, so he returned to what works.

Scar is a different animal, as he became a true expert on the role and never looked to want to move up the ladder from there (he served as interim head coach when the head coach for the Pats was ill in 1992, but I don't believe he pushed for something more permanent from there).

McDaniels has had and will have opportunities to be a head coach. He likes the Patriots organization, and it works for his family here now. I have no doubt he will not be a lifetime coordinator, and he will take a head coaching job at some point.

I'm convinced Josh will be the HC here or the next RAC Tom Moore type.

Why those teams?

Bob won't pay the OC like this for very long after TB retires unless it basically guarantees success/SBs like now.

They are good jobs with patient owners and very good roster pieces in place.
Also if Tomlin loses more control I could see them going in a completely different direction with the coach.
Minnesota how much longer for Zimmer will they see his defenses crumble and stumble in the playoffs.
Atlanta since the Superbowl they have not met expectations with Ryan Jones now Ridley Coleman Freeman.
That unit should rock.
They just fired the OC at some point if they perform like that I will say this season they will part with the whole coaching staff.
They were Intersted in McDaniels before they hired Quinn.
Thats why I singled out those spots.

Josh is being paid almost like a HC. There is really no incentive to go somewhere unless it’s on his terms since he’s done the HCing before:

Even if it's not the same as HC. Inflation aside he won't get paid like this to be OC ever again. He likely will get a second HC now or after Brady is 45. From a sheer money stand point he likely earns a little more if he rides this high paying OC gig as long as he can so long as it doesn't stop him from getting his second gig (last years colts bs aside no reason to think he can do much harm).

Except Tom and Bill won't be here forever so he's going to be a head coach here or somewhere else, he's going to have to prove he can do it without Tom Brady either way.

If you're an OC with a profile as high as McDaniels', you can wait for the right opportunity. Given that he showed interest specifically in the GB and CLE jobs, I would assume that McDaniels is waiting for the chance to coach a high level QB.

The only that the teams with high level QBs but coaches who could feel the hot seat next year are Atlanta and perhaps Detroit/Minnesota (depending on how you feel about Stafford and Zimmer, respectively).

I would also view a chance for a high pick to draft your guy as a highly desirable situation. I'd look at the NY Giants and Washington as possible McDaniels suitors.

A dark horse...if Jimmy G and the Niners stink it up next year, could they tire of Shanahan?

Against the current, again, but I disagree... just looks like 99% of all Patsans posters see nothing but $$$$$$$$$ when in fact there are many considerations - not just money.

Starting to worry about a lot of society if the % of people out there care as much about money as Patsfans...

Here he is being paid like a HC. His family is established and settled here. To uproot everything just for the sake of being a headcoach without having full control is a step in the opposite direction. He also has the potential to take over here eventually.

Assuming the firing rate as a headcoach, he has more stability here. I think it’s going on 14years. He has everything settled here and a possibl future as the HC. Only reason to uproot is having full control.
