Top quality content QM.
Unfortunately it looks like the administration wants to pivot to the "let's kill lots of extra people" plan that the UK just abandoned.

He’s actually gotten trump to change his mind on meaningful issues though. IMO he’s by far the best talking head on cable news, and the ratings show that. But I’m not a cable news watcher anyway.

It’s good that trump has an open mind I suppose but also a huge concern that has to be set straight on major issues
Don't you find it somewhat troubling that the POTUS relies on a guy like Tucker to make decisions on national issues? Doesn't he have experts?

One of the reasons people voted for him was his business acumen and ability to get shyt done by surrounding himself with qualified people, yet there's probably a record in # of vacancies in the Gov.

If you read the last sentence of my post then you know the answer to the question

Governor Baker (Rep.) has shut down "non-essential" businesses and "strongly advised" everyone to stay home and only go out for basic exercise.

Likewise, a Conservative government in the U.K. is (somewhat belatedly) taking effective measures to isolate the country's population, ramp up the country's medical and testing capacities and support the economy.

These are conservatives who have listened to advice from doctors and scientists and are trying to implement it in the public interest. They deserve support.

Contrast that with an administration full of climate change deniers, Creationists and anti-vaxxers whose idea of "draining the swamp" amounts to destroying functional institutions that use science in the service of the public and whose supporters brush off any criticism as "partisan". "Tragedy" is an over-used word, but it's tragic that a great nation should depend on people like that in a time of crisis.

In other news, here's a very interesting bit of anecdotal science:

Anosmia, the loss of sense of smell, and ageusia, an accompanying diminished sense of taste, have emerged as peculiar telltale signs of Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, and possible markers of infection.

On Friday, British ear, nose and throat doctors, citing reports from colleagues around the world, called on adults who lose their senses of smell to isolate themselves for seven days, even if they have no other symptoms, to slow the disease’s spread. The published data is limited, but doctors are concerned enough to raise warnings....

The British physicians cited reports from other countries indicating that significant numbers of coronavirus patients experienced anosmia, saying that in South Korea, where testing has been widespread, 30 percent of 2,000 patients who tested positive experienced anosmia as their major presenting symptom (these were mild cases)....

“Almost everybody who is hospitalized has this same story,” said Dr. Marco Metra, chief of the cardiology department at the main hospital in Brescia, where 700 of 1,200 inpatients have the coronavirus. “You ask about the patient’s wife or husband. And the patient says, ‘My wife has just lost her smell and taste but otherwise she is well.’ So she is likely infected, and she is spreading it with a very mild form.”

who studied a cluster of coronavirus patients in Germany said in an email that roughly half of the patients had experienced a smell or taste disorder, and that the sensory loss usually presented after the first symptoms of respiratory illness, but could be used to distinguish people who should be tested.

Dr. Clemens Wendtner, a professor of medicine at the Academic Teaching Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, said that the patients regained their ability to smell after a few days or weeks, and that the loss occurred regardless of how sick they got or whether they were congested.
Maybe this is what we'll have to go on unless and until testing is available to everyone who needs it.

This virus isnt going anywhere if staying inside is the only way to combat this.

1 case has already exploded into a world wide pandemic.

It's literally impossible for the entire world to stay inside until there is officially no cases left.

Something has to change.

Read QMs link he posted. It's not as bad as you think.

@Tony2046 it's only "not as bad as you think" if you actually do the Hammer. Unfortunately, given today's remarks it looks like the administration wants to do the plan the UK just abandoned.

@Tony2046 whacha doing man?

My finger hurts from scrolling so much.

That's what links are for.

Those posts make @PatsFanInVa 's posts look like tweets.

I find nice that a Jets fan is here with us Why do you like it ?

Just curious...thanks

Fantasy football info brought me here.

The political forum greatness got me familiar with a lot of good guys.

The "Jets Suck" thread is hilarious.

This forum is simply awesome (great job @Ian n mods).

And overall the NE area is pretty damn smart n funny.

It's cool to discuss (sometimes talk smack) with folks who you don't always see eye-to-eye with. Just always staying in your own bubble seems boring.

A lock down where just about everyone gets to work?

Edited:. Way too long of a list to post.

What is an essential business? Here are the Mass. businesses that can stay open during coronavirus crisis
That's my point. There's more concern for the economy than for mitigating the virus spread. Pols not listening to epidemiologists or experts.

Curious how Boris in the UK had a strategy to let the virus spread and is now making a 180 degree turnaround. Too late? We'll find out.

Now you have only to change the team...it is never too late...

Over half the confirmed cases are in NY and NJ - mostly in the metro NYC area

I don't know how Ian has done it, but this really is the best football forum online, and it isn't really close. Though I'd love to believe that Patriots fans are more intelligent than others, we all know that's just fan chest thumping, so the question is how he's been able to filter out the most articulate members from the idiots. 90% of the football forums read like Twitter with 140 characters per post and just sheer stupidity. Gang Green isn't horrible (one of the better ones with full paragraphs) but isn't this forum either. You just don't get that stinking muck here that most forums have.
