How’s your wife doing?
It hasn't hit her hospital yet but you can bet I'll be plenty on edge if/when it does. Naturally, they have a shortage of P95 masks and test kits (employees have been raiding mask supplies). Here's a memo posted last week:

Good luck. My wife works in the health care industry and I’m already compromised with a lung disease and breathing issues, so I’m fully expecting her to bring it home in the next month or so. That’s probably the reality of this situation, no matter what measures we try and take.

Take really good care of yourself -- literally. I'm doing everything I can to keep my immune system up including eating right, taking supplements and working out religiously. Where I tend to struggle is getting enough quality sleep but have been working on that with help from a sleep doctor.

Roger kinda lucked out he didn’t get an opportunity to botch this one, no?

Damn, hoping for the best for you!

I work for a hospital too and they more or less told
us you might be on unpaid leave if you contact it outside of work. US is great sometimes isn’t it?

If you get it at work would worker's comp cover it?? Something to ask a worker's comp lawyer, though you'd have to prove it....
I 'm a dentist and we work close with aerosolized spray and have resigned myself to the fact that we will all be exposed at some point and try to mitigate the effects by as tunescribe wrote, exercise, diet, rest and hope we don't have to shut down for too long if at all... We are taking a low key approach not scaring our patients . Few of my patients travel outside the country. (most of Pennsylvanians don't even leave the state unless they go to the Jersey shore) .. but it is becoming endemic around here.
I have to go to a conference in Chicago next week and still plan on going. BUT I wipe down the airplane seat with hospital grade disinfectant.

How can they tell if you contracted outside of work vs. while working?

They just canceled a Coronavirus Conference in NYC because...of... the...coronavirus.

Confirmed case in Nassau county, just north of where I am. It’s heeeeeeeeeereeeeeeeeeee.

And you can bet they will try and deny any claims at work for that reason. When they do cough in their face.

They'll be leaving cruise ships by the thousands and march through your town like zombies. Doubtful you have enough ammo stockpiled to fend them off.

I’ll go talk to my boomer neighbors and see if I can borrow 1,000 rolls of toilet paper to barricade myself in my home.

In all honesty, I may already have it. I’m not feeling so hot today, sir.

Well, you probably need a good support network and that happens only through making friends. Better get out there and shake some hands.

Group hugs can’t hurt.

I was actually thinking of hopping on a flight and going somewhere.

Not many folks flying these days but an international airport terminal might be a good hangout locale. You can make friends from varied backgrounds.
