Just got back. I was amazed with the bottled water available. Pallets and stacks everywhere. Meanwhile, everything else had been hoarded.
I just never understand why people hoard asswipe during snow storms and crisis.
Like do you sh!t more during these periods.
Not for nothing but if you did run out in a crisis there is a thing called a shower.

I'm going to begin this post by saying that I have no dog in this fight as I am not American and don't live in the US. In observing the lack of a cohesive Federal reaction to the Covid 19 virus over the last month (until 3 days ago), it is astonishing to outside observers how any American citizen could be satisfied with the job your President and his administration have done in the preparation and management of this threat. Much of the world winced when the US Government rejected the WHO offer of Covid 19 test kits. Every other country gladly accepted the kits. Our collective jaws dropped to the floor when your President said that the virus would "magically disappear". Science and common sense were clearly telling all of us that this virus would not be impacted in any way, by magic.

From the outside looking in, the only words that come to mind when considering how the current administration has handled this situation are "gross negligence" and "recklessly irresponsible". What is equally baffling to "outsiders" like me are the number of Americans who are digging their heels in and saying that the President has done a good job with the Covid 19 threat.
We foreigners tend to place value and importance on facts and logic and I suppose the overriding question I have is why would Americans put their political party affiliations before the good of their country?
It is truly bizarre.

Hit the nail right on the head! Thank you.

Trump waiting for test results. Watch the left rejoice if he gets it...
I'm sure there would be a few idiots that would cheer for that but I think those people are in the minority. Unfortunately, they tend to have the loudest voices. Most (the vast majority that don't post on social media) would see it as anyone can get it. Status, access to the nation's top medical people and secret service protection be damned.

And the Trump haters abhor him to the point where not only can he do nothing right but they would rather see it all burn down if it meant whoever they support would be president of the ashes.

The vast majority of us who live in the middle find both sides equally hard to stomach.
I'm a centrist and it is not difficult to see the President is a grade A idiot. He has done a few things right but by and large he has been terrible. You do not need to be a liberal to see that.

I do not want to see our country burn, regardless of who the President is. I'm calling it like I see it, just as I used to criticize Obama, just as I used to criticize Bush.

Since you are clearly motivated by citing blame for the handling of this cluster**** of a pandemic, let's test your scope and qualification of failure.

Did Pelosi and Mnuchin "fail"for not coming to terms sooner?

We don't have leadership, whatsoever. Just a lot of finger pointing and a "I don't take responsibility for that at all."

Not surprising that there's been a lot of partisan bickering and even sabotaging.

Who will rise above all that and attempt to unite the country? Who will have a calming effect on everyone?

I strongly suggest butternut squash or broccoli cheddar soup w/ double-cut bacon.
I could live on butternut squash ... and now you did it!!!

You know what ... I am hungry and I have a frozen one in my freezer.
So I'll be back in a bit ... throwing it in the microwave and eating it ... yum.

So can someone give me an honest, unbiased answer in the 'dems put in abortion funding/republicans trying to put anti-abortion measures' in the whole coronavirus response bill?

Because from what little I've read it seems to have to do with money going towards places like Planned Parenthood but wouldn't that money be earmarked specifically for stuff related to this virus?

I now see why we shouldn't discuss politics on Patsfans.com......I can't believe how many....ah...nevermind....LOL

Confuses the hell out of me ... but politics is some alien world.

I think Trump finally gets it. At the press conference yesterday he said the Ds weren't giving enough to get the bill done. That evening he was tweeting 100% support for the bill. That's Pelosi's bill. He wanted payroll tax break which he didn't get, she wanted sick pay, etc. which she got. I think he realized this was no time to posture so he agreed to move the bill forward. He wants to show action and progress. He doesn't want this to be his Katrina.

Now there's enormous pressure on McConnell. The R Senate doesn't like this bill. I'm very curious to see what McConnell does: accept bill as is or try to mark it up and delay entire emergency response.

Can Trump twist McConnell's arm to pass Pelosi's bill? If so, that would be progress. Not because of Pelosi, but because there is a will to compromise and work together which is what we all need right now.

I suspect most members of Congress don't even know everything that's in the bill, nvm about us commoners.

Each side is going to spin things their way, but bottom line Trump got majority of House Rs to support the bill. So you now have 67% support for bill to pass. Will the R Senate play along? McConnell will probably extract some huge favor from Trump to play along. Trump needs this bill to pass bad to wipe clean his initial response.

Whataboutism alert 2.0.

That same feeling you have now about the US having no leadership? Many of us felt that way when Obama was president. For 8 years I felt there was no one in charge. In fact, Hillary lost because the Dems didn't care for poor folk in the rural parts of our country. Obama spent 8 years caring for the elite and his base - that's not leadership. Moreover, 70% of the nation felt that the country was divided racially under his Administration - that's not leadership either.

Trump has the Rs by the balls. In return for passing the bill, McConnell gets to stay in Trump’s favor and won’t get thrown under the bus. That’s the way it works, and though Trump’s flaws are another story, it’s impressive the way he’s installed this lock step unity within his own party.

I never mentioned Obama. You just seem to deflect any criticism of Trump with “But Obama...”

There's a reason why Ian closed down the political section on Patsfans!
