Combine Talk: Tight Ends

That 4.42 was the unofficial time. It would seem that, this year, they do have "OFFICIAL" times.. At least according to the NFLN broadcast.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft Cook as the next "Watson" just like Watson was the next "Graham" or starting caliber TE. Cook was motoring in the 40 and probably became some team's binky with a pick higher than the Pats. Pettigrew looked smooth and polished in the pass catching drill but Cook may have overtaken him with his speed. Nebraska's Murtha, a 6'7 307 lb O-lineman, ran essentially the same time as Pettigrew.

Quick reminders of previous prospects:

Kellen Winslow - 6'4", 251, 4.55
Ben Watson - 6'3", 253, 4.45
Chris Cooley - 6'3:, 253, 4.81

Greg Olsen - 6'5", 251, 4.70
Zach Miller - 6'4", 258, 4.73
Kevin Boss - 6'6", 250, 4.80

Vernon Davis - 6'2", 250, 4. ?
Mercedes Lewis - 6'5", 254, 4.60
David Thomas - 6'2", 238, 4.8
Owen Daniels - 6'3", 244, 4.70

Heath Miller - 6'5", 255, 4.8
Bo Scaife - 6'3", 250, 4.9

I think Dan Gronkowski's been extremely impressive in the drills, and he's another guy who's considered primarily a blocker. He's gone from UDFA to solid 5-6th rounder, I think.

So What? He's lucky the new SF coach didn't cut him...

So what nothing. Somebody asked what 40 time Vernon Davis had at the combine and I answered it. What are you jumping down my throat for? I'm guilty for providing information that was asked for? Sheesh.

Quick reminders of previous prospects:
Vernon Davis - 6'2", 250, 4. ?

Seriously, take a chill pill man.

I've still got the Humanitarian Bowl recording to watch for him...his older brother was very interesting as a FB. What is your assessment of him as a receiver, does he screen defenders well with his body? Good hands?

He's really stood out -- a total mismatch between pre-combine reputation and combine performance. Great size, strength and quickness:

6054 255 4.78 26 33.0 10'2" 4.26 11.72 6.92

I really don't know...he was used so little in the passing attack. I knew him as "TE Maryland" until I started pulling the draft research together.
