Patriots Injury News Christian Gonzalez Watch (Head Injury)

We should know by Wed or Thursday if it is looking promising, he needs to be in a red non-contact jersey by Thursday. The average player misses 1 game and takes about 9 days. Average player also gets hit harder than he did so who knows.
No doubt we want Pitt to win but added to that is Nico Collins is better than Metcalf and not having Gonzo against Nico would be not ideal.

This is the NFL. We aren’t talking POTUS here you know.

I’ve taken one of those neurocognitive tests for the FAA. May not be the exact same one but I’d wager it’s close. It was very rigorous. NFL might not be quite as rigorous as the FAA but I’d expect their test regime is as soundly based on science, and not totally superficial.
I flunked mine before I actually got to take the actual test
I forgot I even had a test scheduled and thought an animal with a hump on its back was Secretariat

Hope not I hate those, can’t believe their motion not limited.

If some kind of extra interior protection available, all for it.
Jared Wilson was wearing it in the game.. Why do you think the head motion would be limited?? It's just extra padding on the exterior of the helmet.

They showed a clip of him walking down the tunnel and he looked shaky. That usually doesn't bode well for a one week stay on the protocol, BUT I don't think he was seen by the protocol docs, so he might not be on it right now. I have no idea how that works in detail if he wasn't put on it during the game.

He truly was DOMINANT tonight. He'd be a top 3 loss for us
I didn't think he looked shaky. I though he looked ticked and was shaking his head because the people on the sidelines didn't make the call., It was the Overhead Dr and that's an automatic trip to the locker-room for testing..

On WEEI today the hosts tried to tell Vrabel that Gonzo told someone he was "okay." Not sure if that was just them trying to bait Vrabes into sharing info or not.

On another note there was a funny exchange where Wiggy (I think) asked Vrabel about the increase in man coverage, blitzing and asked Vrabes how he knew the correct coverages to run. Mike had a funny response that (paraphrasing) "sometimes we don't know the coverage we're in" acknowledging the issues in zone coverage we have seen all season.

For what it's worth they seemed to have solved some coverage issues yesterday and ramped up the blitzes.

Losing him would put the Patriots at a massive disadvantage. If it's Houston, you can't afford slip ups in the back end. Their defense is too good to play from behind etc.

I dunno. I certainly have no knowledge to base/ guess on. maybe just the optics for me,…… or that I’m just another of the old guys who hates change.

BTW, they all wear them in practice, so it shouldn't be an issue, it's just that they look like the Great Kazoo when they wear them.

Shouldn’t be ignored that Nico Collins very well could be out with his own concussion.

I really hope he is back for this game, we need him and everyone available on the D. If that unit plays like they did on Sunday, we would have a very good chance to win this game. Herbert is better than Stroud and we made him look very pedestrian.

I hope he plays BUT if you are going to lose him against an offense in the playoffs and still have a shot, Texans are the one. Beyond Collins, none of them are special. It’s more about the running game (including Stroud).

From what I have read, a player feeling well and no symptoms does not necessarily mean they are concussion free. There is a neurological aspect to it that only certain doctors can see. So, Gonzalez could feel great and still be ruled out.
