There really is no excuse for hamstring injuries. It's foremost a conditioning/strength training issue and beyond that, preventable through proper warmup/stretching.
Yeah... I mean these guys are professional athletes.. with CBs and WRs.. hammy injuries are common.

Shut him down thank you very much: he's the Key to our Defense. We know what he can and will do see you Game one Gonzo.
Yes, I equate this to Moss when he had same issue in 2007. Shut him down.. get ready for Brock Bowers in week 1..

Definitely not the worst news, hopefully accurate. Give him more time than needed, still plenty of time till week 1.
Yes, agreed. The fortune thing is the timing of it. He's our key on defense. We want him 100%or close to it. Now it will be on the young guys behind Davis to earn a roster spot for themselves.

I’d sit him twice as long as necessary. All Pro since he arrived in the NFL, you need him healthy. He already knows the defense.
Agreed! I liken the same to Randy in 2007 had hamstring issues. BB Rested him all off season and minimal camp participation.

thanks for the information.

as to the question asked in the tweet,
"Should the Patriots rest Gonzo the rest of the preseason?"

YES .... 1000x's YES
Your welcome... yes besides Gonzo working with trainers on a side feild he doesn't need to be in camp practices. Let Austin and some young unproven guys get run it will only benefit the team.

Chance of recurrence of the injury is extremely high in the first month. He maybe sees some practice prior to game day 1, but that’s it.
That’s my thinking. Get him into practice the week before LV. That should be the target range for him to return

Not sure how reliable that grade 1 tear report is. Seems like the information might have come from a parody account.

Gonzalez needs to get as close to game speed as possible.

Sitting out rarely accomplishes that.
Can't rush the hamstring injury. Mismanaged, the Pats could lose him for most of the year. It's going to be a while before he can test that sucker with relative reckless abandon. Ounce of prevention, and all that.
