Chargers' WR Danario Alexander....what could have been?

LLoyd does not have stretch the field speed ... why did anyone think he could stretch it?

Probably b/c he averaged almost 19 ypc in 2010, including nine passes of over 40 yards and twenty-three of 20 plus yards.

I still think he has that same speed..we have seen flashes downfield..week 1 where he blew the doors off the CB but couldn't come up with the ball

Yep, missing out on Alexander and Tiquan Underwood is going to cost them in the end. Now they're stuck throwing to scrubs like Lloyd, Gronk, and that other guy they shoulda traded Wes Walter or something?

Who would you take off the field?

Only realistic argument is maybe Branch, and I doubt Alexander is reliable and on the page enough to replace his production.

He's got 8 catches, in 3 games, on the season. Do the Patriots need another player for the training room ice tubs, or something?

Ahhhhhh, sarcasm. I get it. I never said that Alexander would be be more important to fate of the Patriots than Lloyd and didn't even mention Welker. If you are really comparing the physical gifts of Alexander, when healthy, with someone like Underwood, your lose all credibility. Alexander would have been a no risk pickup who, as a role player, could have possibly provided the one thing that the Pats' offense still lacks on a consistent basis. I would take that over what Branch can give them without hesitation, particularly given that Branch doesn't provide special teams value. Do you think that Chargers are happy that they took a chance on him?

Yup...those 42 catches for 480 yards with an 11.4 average and 3 TD's really is a major bummer.

He is only tied for 12th in the AFC in receptions.

At this rate he will go over 1,000 yards.

Really not happy we have him.

This was the first week that they started to focus more on him....time will tell. I'll admit, "what could have been" is a bit much but I have always loved his potential.

I'm also happy we have him, but you'd have to agree he's been a failure at stretching the field thus far. I'm not in favor of bringing in Alexander, but I'd like to see us add more athletic playmakers on offense. We have a lot of guys with good hands, who can make a ton of catches and get open, but we lack a deep threat and a player who could take it to the house on any given play. Every other good offense in the NFL has those kinds of guys. Obviously the offense is great, but I think they lack an explosive dimension.

I liked the Lloyd signing and still do but he hasn't been a consistent deep threat, so far. All I am saying is that a player like Alexander could add yet another dimension to the offense (size at WR, true deep threat) that could have come in handy, if JMD picked his spots. He may be an injury nightmare, but he is currently healthy and playing well.

Re: Chargers' WR Danario Alexander....missed opportunity?

96 yds and 2 more TDs. 24.5 point on my fantasy bench. Perhaps we could have found a use for him after all. Just saying....

BB didn't sign him, so, deal with it. You didn't know for a fact that DA would have played injury free.

That Oklahoma spread produces a whole lot of receivers. I think Broyles fits the Pats offense better than Alexander though.
